Steven Defour Manchester Marathon
Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I couldn't find anything on it - Steven is running the Manchester marathon in April, for a children's charity called Ronald McDonald House Charities. Best player in my lifetime as a Burnley fan (2000 onwards) and an all-round legend. There are links to don...

I was born and raised down south and didn't go to school with any Burnley fans, but my mother is from just outside Burnley (father was from Norfolk and not into football). I was brought into the fold by my uncle who has been a fan since 1970s. It was a close call, though. My grandfather had zero int...

The "imported Spanish lager" Cruzcampo is actually brewed in Manchester and Madri is brewed in Tadcaster, near York. Cruzcampo is Spanish in origin, though, unlike Madri. Hi, I have a ticket for the Oxford game and cannot attend now - available for face value (£30). Please note it is unfortunately in the HOME end. It is in the North stand so at least you'll be quite close to the away end, even if not in it. Please message if interested - it is an e-ticket so no need ...

Re: Dyche 2014/15 vs Kompany 23/24
Big fan of Sean Dyche but that just shows that all managers spend money on players that don't end up performing. True although I agree with other posters that we prioritised infrastructure and non player spending that summer - and it shows how awful this season was, in that we got less points that ...

Re: Dyche 2014/15 vs Kompany 23/24
I agree it's gone up in levels but so have we and everyone else. As an example we've got Belgium internationals in this team who don't even make the squad. That's a long way from when we just had a few Welsh/scottish/Irish players on our books. More of a reflection of Belgium I think, their golden ...

Re: Dyche 2014/15 vs Kompany 23/24
It is remarkable we’ve managed to get six points fewer than 14/15.
I agree the PL is a different place nowadays but it is still a pathetic inditement of this season.
Just think how bad some of the players were signed were 10 years ago - Sordell, Jutkiewicz, etc - and we still managed more points!

Yep I'm sure Cork's opinion is going to be coloured somewhat by natural self-bias, but I do suspect Kompany has his favourites. Every manager does, it's to be expected, and Cork wasn't his signing. Just more that I don't believe the idea that Kompany, or any manager, is entirely fair & objective in...

I think it may be Howe syndrome as others have suggested. He's a young manager and he's actually played against some of the older lads. By all accounts, both from Anderlecht and the likes of Micah Richards discussing his personality as City captain, he's a very demanding, at times selfish "my way o...

the constant chopping and changing of the side is a massive issue, you can't like a player when you don't know if they are playing from week to week or will be sold every window. Probably in the same way we signed a player in Koleosho, who other than 5 appearances for the first team, had only played for Espanyol B in the Spanish 4th tier. Tella should be looking at an England call up for sure. Had Southampton not loaned him to us they’d not have gone down. Had they kept him they might have got promoted. Yes definitely one of Robert Maxwells ideas, not the clubs.
Oxford Utd does have a colourful and great history. They would have played in Europe after winning the league cup in 1986, but were denied because of the ban after Heysel.

Not sure injured players playing through the pain barrier is a thing anymore. Vydra played 90 minutes against Watford for us with a torn cruciate ligament not long ago. ‘Material uncertainty’ with regards to Going Concern would suggest otherwise.
