Re: O/T Best place to put £500 per month
Just to add to the above - In my experience, there's no such thing as "independent" financial advice. If financial advisors were really all that, they'd be retired and/or millionaires. I've known 3 financial advisors in my time and 2 of them went bankrupt. Look at the "infallible" Neil Woodford. * J...

Re: Jimmy Greaves
With all due respect to the above posters (and indeed to Willie Irvine and George Best) one look at Greaves' record shows he is in a different league (no pun).
He is/was arguably the greatest goalscorer of all time.
His goalscoring record is simply astonishing.

Re: The worst Burnley performance that you've witnessed live....
Two that spring to mind for me, not for the massive scorelines but the sheer ineptitude of the performances: Hereford away, September(ish) about 1976/7/8 when we were 3-0 down in about the first 20 mins and Coventry away (Highfield Rd) the first game after Stan had taken the team on a mid-season bre...

Asking the wise financial heads on here for a relative who has £500 per month to invest. Happy to lock it away for 5 yrs but obv doesn't want to risk/lose it !! Apart from the miserly interest rates from the banks and Premium Bonds, I'm at a loss to advise her. Sensible suggestions welcome and thank...

Re: Early goals on the turf
v Portsmouth, early 1973. Tues night game. Scored whilst I was trying to get through a Beehole End turnstile at just after 7.30. Missed that one but scored 3 more before half-time and on top of that Casper? missed a pen. Thought we'd get 10 that night but 4-0 was the final score. If memory serves me...
