Re: England V South Africa 1st ODI

These England players don’t play 50 over games.

Because of the Hundred, the Royal London Cup has been turned into a journeyman and second eleven competition.

It’s little wonder we’re no good at it.

Did he blame the alcoholism, the white powder or his gambling problems for that? If he did it just because he thought it was funny, then he's beneath contempt. It’s a few years since I read it, and I got rid of the book long ago, but as I recall he wasn’t blaming his demons, it was all just a laugh...

I’ve read Merson’s autobiography.

On away trips in a hotel, his idea of fun was to have a poo in the bed of one of his teammates.

Somehow, I don’t think he and I would have got on.

Getting out was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. The congestion near the club shop was no worse than it used to be going up Ormerod Yard. We got lost briefly in the Holcombe Drive estate trying to find Belvedere Road, but I think I know the way now. It probably adds five minutes to my w...

Re: Access for home fans

Do they seriously expect hundreds or thousands of people to turn up two hours before kick-off simply to welcome the arrival of the team coach?

Deluded.

But, as has been said above, it’s all an attempt to get people there early to spend money on rubbish and overpriced food and drink.

We park up just before the Fire Station.
