Re: Toffs Retro Burnley Shirt Sale

I’m also wondering if the business has gone into administration. I ordered a Burnley shirt on 26th March and promptly received both payment acknowledgement and an order confirmation. An email said I would receive a Royal Mail tracking number when the product is shipped. Two weeks on and I’m still to...

Re: Harry Enfield Fans -1947 FA Cup Final

Great footage within a really well put together film. Thank you for sharing. In November 2024 I emailed the club as I was frustrated that the achievements of the 1946-47 Burnley team were not recognised either in the Club History section within the match day programme, nor via the pre-match screenin...

Re: REPORT: Losing ground after Preston draw

The first half featured two goal saving defensive blocks, as Tony references in his excellent report. The first, as reported, an outstanding block from Egan-Riley. The second, from my vantage point 10 rows back and central behind the goal, should be credited to Esteve, who had retreated to the goal ...

Re: Commentary v Rovers

I listened to BBC Radio Lancashire coverage from pre-kick off to post-match analysis. The Rovers pundit was Mark Atkins with Clarets favourite Glen Little putting over the views from a Burnley persuasion. Match commentator was Dan Jewell and hosting the broadcast was Andy Bayes. I have regularly bee...

Re: Remembering season 2001-02

Yes, that’s the one. We finished behind Norwich on goal difference (+8 versus their +9). As I recall, Norwich’s final fixture was at home to bottom placed (and already relegated) Stockport County. Before our game at home to Coventry had even kicked off, Stockport’s goalkeeper had been sent off! Norw...

Remembering season 2001-02

23 years ago, under the management of Stan, we topped the league and looked odds-on for a play-off place, if not automatic promotion. Alas, we famously ended with neither prize. Merely for comparison with today’s table, this was our record at Christmas Day 2001 : P25 W15 D5 L5 F48 A33 GD15 Pts50 We ...

Re: On this day

Today marks 50 years since our last FA Cup Semi Final appearance. Alas, the pain from that day is still felt within me and many others. Back in 1974 the FA Cup was a revered, prestigious competition and we had a team genuinely capable of winning the cup. Confidence was high after thrashing Dirty Lee...

Re: ARTICLE: Wolves take a point from Burnley as brilliant 1973 ends

The achievements by the club in 1947 go completely unrecognised in the pre-match “theatre”. No mention in the regular video illustrating a potted history of our club. Nor any acknowledgement via the illuminated signage that works its way around the stands in synch with the video. Yet the club won pr...

Re: Michael Duff | The Story So Far

Thank you for sharing this. It’s about football, of course, but the interviews highlight the importance of culture in the workplace and how challenging it is to change and sustain those changes. Duffo’s mantra of ‘be the best you can be’ is a key reason why he has succeeded first as a player and now...

Re: PA System again!

The PA continues to be far too loud for spectators in the Bob Lord Stand. It’s unpleasant being subjected to the near constant loud noise and frustrating that you can barely hold a conversation with fellow supporters because of it. That the PA announcer habitually shouts into the microphone simply m...

Re: 1970s Team Pic

I can understand the attraction of that V shirt to many, but I never liked it. I thought back then, and still to me now, it looks more like a rugby league shirt than a football shirt. The ‘joke’ at the time was that the V was there to point to our slide down the leagues. That’s another reason I disl...

Re: 1970s Team Pic

I was at that game at Bramhall Lane and was stunned when the team came out wearing a kit we’d not seen before, either in the press or worn in a previous game. No social media then, of course, to forewarn supporters. I instantly loved it, helped by the fact we won (2-0). I think it looked better with...

Re: 1970s Team Pic

Me too - loved that kit and the blue with claret trim away kit at the same time. It’s high-time we brought back that away shirt. It’s colour combination echoes the 1947 FA Cup Final shirt of royal blue with claret trim. Simply magnificent. I always questioned whether the light blue shorts complemen...

Re: Shareholders' letter

I appreciate the constructive replies, thank you. On the point Paul references about a notional value of an “Ordinary Share”, as I think the provided form describes it, the wording states that I “paid” £1 for it. It is likely that the club is referring to its notional value, but that’s not what it c...

Back right looks like Mark Caton, who was a regular with St Pauls for a few years. His elder brother, Steve, was a goalkeeper as I recall.

Front left is Adam Markin, younger brother to Steve who is on the early team photo of the 1979 leavers.

I remember Terry. I played against him many times. I was also at college with Martin Spedding. In 1984 I was seated next to Martin on a supporters coach from Old Trafford travelling to Lord’s for the B&H Cup Final. Lancs beat Warwicks. I was deeply disappointed to lose that cup final. So thanks for ...

Yes, Herts, it is Andrew Beechey that was missing from the team photo. It was held at Surrey Road on Friday 18 A...
