Re: Josh-tastic

It's now Brownhill's best season goals-wise too. Excellent.

Re: Cherlsea’s goals

After laying into Vitnihos defending, forgot to give massive credit to him for our goal. Great run forward, well timed, great pass.

Re: Cherlsea’s goals

Goal 1 - should Vitinho be blocking a poor cross at that height? I would say so. Goal 2 - poor challenge from Vitinho. Needed to stay on his feet. Goal 3 - Ramsey gave it away, Berge went to ground, Delcroix and O'Shea positioning very poor. Goal 4 - Should O'Shea be the man tracking Sterling? Our g...

Re: What is our strongest XI?…

I feel I can pick a back line, then Cullen and Brownhill which is progress from 2 weeks ago, then after that I just want to put about 7 attacking mids/wingers/forwards in behind Foster 🤣 Was thinking of a 4231, but opted for a 4271 instead and it might become 4291 once ive seen more of tresor and od...

Re: Sean Dyche will be smuggly looking on...

It's a real shame some have this negative view of Dyche. Yes it didnt end well and those last couple of seasons were drab but remember where we were when he took us over. Without Dyche, we dont get years in the prem, we dont get "Europe" and a top 10 finish, we dont get Ings and Vokes, we dont get 2...

Re: World Championships in athletics

Great day of athletics today. Johnson-Thompson put an impressive performance in with javelin and long jump and left herself an easy job in the 800m.

Cheptegei basically sprinted the last 500m in the 10k... Both 1500m finals should be a great spectacle.

Pub to watch the game

Meeting up with a few mates to watch the match on Friday but our usual local has shut...

Anyone got any recommendations of a decent pub that will show it, can be in Burnley or on the outskirts, even Accrington area, preferrably somewhere that's gonna be quietish...

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Ameen Al-Dakhil

Agree with the Al Dhakil love in. Hope it's not just a honeymoon period and he can step up to the prem! Very calm bringing the ball down with strikers breathing down his neck, assured on the ball, can tackle, has reasonable pace for a CB, looks aggressive at times too.. The only thing he lacks is ma...

Re: Charlie Taylor

It's difficult to compare Maatsen and Taylor, which is strange when theyre both considered left backs, but as has been said, they both suit different systems. I thought I saw some nice defensive work and passing from Taylor yesterday. He's been a safe pair of hands at the back over the years and has...

I think he's always been very good. It has helped for him to stay fit, play in an attacking side and dropping down a league.

Re: My first Burnley game ....

Burnley 2 Stockport 1
Wembley 1994, 3rd tier playoff final
David Eyres and Gary Parkinson
They had two sent off early.
Think John Francis went off injured for us?
Used to have the video of it as well so watched the game numerous times again afterwards and fell in love woth football aged 5.

Re: Weghorst

In my opinion, people seem to either vastly over- or under-rate Weghorst. I think he is 'quite good'. He can do a good job when it comes to linking up, holding up the ball, has good feet and can be a surprise package, as he was in the world cup. However, it feels like too much has happened and repai...

Re: James Anderson appreciation post

I'd say if anything he has been unlucky with injuries over the years. I think he looks after himself extremely well, more so the older he's got - looks leaner than he did when younger. Pace-wise, he's never been lightining fast, but I think he has dropped off a bit in recent years and his average ha...

Re: Clarets v Watford Match Thread

It had to end some time... As much as Watfor didnt offer much in the second half, they were very physical and full of effort, made it very difficult for us to build momentum. We looked a bit overexcited in the first half and could have taken our time on the ball a bit. I think they got to us. Cullen...

Re: Clarets v Watford Match Thread

Cullen is propping up the central midfield on his own. Cork would be a big help in there with his physicality and to calm us down on the ball a bit. Everyone just looked a touch overexcited at times when we could have been slowing play down a bit.

Re: Ashley Barnes

He never looked the same after he came back from the long term injury in 2019/2020 (?) but he's been great this season since that Rovers game. Even without the goals that day he showed the rest how to play a derby. You can see how much he cares about the team, always the first to celebrate with his ...

Re: Muric

Was looking at our passing stats on fbref.com. We comfortably have the best long pass accuracy, which is in no small part down to him... His confidence on the ball is just ridiculous for a keeper. There were a couple of aerial passes he pinged across to Maatsen at left back today that made me laugh ...

Re: Team for Preston

Muric (if ready)
Roberts Ekdal Beyer Maatsen
Cork Cullen
Tella Brownhill Zaroury
Barnes

Could make it more attacking later on by taking Cork off for JBG and dropping Brownhill deeper.

Can see Tella maybe being rested after a long night on Tuesday.

Assuming Bensons still not ready?
