Re: Lancashire League weekend thread
I'm very good friends with one ex pro who was playing in another league, he told me the club he went to play for in the Lancashire League were paying him double what he was getting as a pro..I've absolutely no reason to doubt him at all. As I said, I've no issues at all with lads making a few quid,...

Re: Lancashire League weekend thread
The bigger clubs didn't want to play the likes of Accy and Bacup anymore, that's why they got the format changed. Think it was as much to provide more competitive cricket for those clubs that were struggling at the time too. Pretty deflating for players to be regularly getting a hiding from far bet...

It's not the club that needs the money it's the cricket club which that type of money to them regular is huge! An additional fanzone (possibly for away fans) is a waste of resource in my opinion and would suggest there’s no short or even mid term plan to do anything serious with the actual stand facilities.

Strange one. Chipped in with a few goals for us but thought a lot of his general play was frustrating. He’s had a strange career and at 26 has never really cracked it in the Bundesliga.

In yet another rain-affected day at the Brooks Foundation Ground, Lowerhouse faced Burnley in the Worsley Cup Semi Final with a place in the 99th Final up for grabs. Winning the toss, Ben Heap elected to bat first on a surface softened by persistent showers. The decision appeared to pay off early, ...

Target reduced to 173. Not sure why. Don't get it It does seem strange but it will take into account that Lowerhouse were 40/4 after 10 overs when it rained and Burnley were in the ascendency in the context of a 50 over match. They came back on knowing they only had another 24 overs to bat and coul...

If there wasn't such a trust in Parker I think there would have to be big questions about character because by any measure he's an idiot and a very unpleasant one at that. On the pitch, maybe he's still got it and maybe he hasn't. I'm inclined to think a current England international at such a chea...

As much as I like Roberts and what he’s done for us, we’d be naive to think he’s PL standard and Sonne needs time. A season long loan to a Championship club would be good for him.

Seems to have been a really positive influence off the pitch this season.
It will be interesting to see what happens with him this summer. Parker would probably love to have him around the squad but I’m assuming he left Forest because he didn’t want to sit on the bench in the PL.

Slightly off topic but the issue was raised on The Bee Hole End podcast recently about removing the Saturday 3pm TV blackout and whether it would allow more games to actually be played at this time?
Seems odd that all Good Friday games can be shown at 3pm but not on a Saturday.

Did some really good things last night but was again also wasteful in possession. Accurate and fair report. Nobody came out of that with any credit. We’ve got a good sized squad but the first 11 pretty much picks itself.
We needed to match their energy, passion and physicality but fell way short in all areas.

Could have changed things quicker - it was obvious at half time that we were jaded and needed a bit more quality on midfield - and could have tried harder to win it late on. Once again, we've failed to score in a game the onus was on us to win, and we haven't brought a striker off the bench. Barnes...

They’ve a recent history of making good managerial appointments which has papered over the cracks.
There’ll also be some short sighted out of work managers who’ll jump at the chance to join a team in the Championship playoffs but you sense it will start to slide.

I don’t buy into the narrative that a different striker would solve our problems. Bit far fetched to suggest we’ve pulled out of the deal because of his refusal to play or his attitude. He’s clearly been a priority target for a while so you can only assume the finances of the deal are either above what we are willing or able to risk.

Gives us something different and as a deal until the end of the season it seems a no brainer.
For all the attributes of our current midfielders, the ability to hit a quick switch of play or strike a ball from distance are lacking. Hopefully will prove to be an inspired bit of business.

The main issue with him on the left is his lack of awareness out of possession.
Several times last night their right back ran off him and although it didn’t cost us it would still be a big worry for me in future games.
