Style over substance is exactly right, we seem to be obsessed with playing a particular style and not to our strengthsCoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 17, 2025 3:26 pmI think following COVID, the money has just funnelled up the pyramid.... but the infatuation with style over substance for newly promoted teams hasn't helped either.

Re: Our own fault
Luton, Everton, Brentford, Wolves, Forest, Sheff Utd, Bournemouth, Palace etc, don’t have WORLD CLASS players. There’s up to 48 points available from those teams alone. We don’t even need to compete with WORLD CLASS players. Absolutely right, how many points have we just gifted away to those teams

Our own fault
The biggest disappointment is that it was completely our own fault from board to management and playing staff. Poor communication from the club, poor recruitment, poor team selection, poor substitutions, poor on field decision, an unwillingness to to make changes, lack of enthusiasm, a lack of conne...

Out of contract
So, with Brownhill, Taylor, Rodriguez, Gudmundson and Cork all out of contract at the end of the season and Loanees Assignon, Fofana and Bruun Larson's loans ending who if any would we keep or is it more feasible to get the wages off the books? and would anyone go in for the loanees?

Does Ekdal start.....
......if he's fit? for me its a yes. I think he has more composure than O'Shea and can carry the ball out of defence. I think he also has more of a presence in the back four which in turn would give Trafford more confidence (because he wont be dropped lol) that he wont be exposed as much.

Quite possibly the best book I’ve read. Absolutely gripping from start to finish, and it is epic in scope and character. the follow ups are good, but set in slightly different times and refer back or forward sometimes.A brand new kings bridge novel out now

What is Berge’s best position?
Any thoughts on this?
He’s getting better by the game but I do think he is more effective a bit further forward. Maybe try massengo as a holding midfielder along with Cullen and Brownhill and it may give Berge a bit more freedom?

Better
We looked generally better yesterday, best I’ve seen O’Shea play, maybe because Beyer was at his side, but a couple of observations are that Berge was played too far back and is better up the pitch and Vitinho looked better although there was a lot of passing back and no driving into the final third...

5 Year Plan
Alan Pace has to give VK time for the 5 year plan to work and not cave in to pressure to remove him. We all knew that last season we massively overacheived and that put us way ahead of schedule. The players we brought in before last season started needed 6 months to start firing on all cylinders and...

Got to say I’ve seen nothing about O’Shea that makes me think he’s anywhere near premier league quality. Al-dahkeel has his pace as a saving grace but is scared of his own shadow. We can only hope beyer and ekdal make good recoveries
