Re: Bradys Goal
In similar vein, Radio 4 reported a "win for Bournemouth" last night in their 7.25am bulletin. Looks like we're still below the radar.

Re: What a thoroughly nasty outfit!
Agree completely with OP though I can't see them being relegated. A very cynical outfit who targeted a weak referee and got away with all but the most flagrant offences. The memory I'll take from the game besides Carroll's lunacy is of Cresswell pushing Tarkowski (I think) over whilst he was attempt...

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
Yes, Scouse, my point at Post 27 - Dyche is the real prize asset.

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
I'm more than content - I'm delighted with the state of the club. Dyche himself has commented that it's not a 'forever thing' and we have to bear this in mind even as we enjoy the good times. The larger hope on the succession planning front is that the Board have their eyes to what comes next - give...

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
Fair play to you on questioning the lack of an additional CB. I guess we'll all be happier when one arrives, preferably before Tarkowski or Mee are snapped up elsewhere.

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
Not questioning things is not a very healthy mentality, even with people you like and trust. Blind faith left us all on the floor when Coyle did one. Not suggesting for one minute that Dyche would ever behave in that way - he's a hundred times the man, let alone the manager Coyle ever was or is. I l...

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
You're right that the amount of control and reasonableness of the Board's expectations are key to Dyche wishing to stay - the situation at other clubs is often ridiculous - I can't see him being tempted by Crystal Palace any time soon.

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
Think it's a bit naive to think people don't have an eye to their own futures (ie - the next job) whilst still in post - be it in football or anywhere else. I agree Dyche is a detail man - I think he'd have most likely have been successful in management in whatever sector he'd gone into. Lucky for u...

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
I agree we live in amazing times EW and have gone a long way to establishing a unique selling point (maybe, not quite unique!) as a club where talented young players serious about playing football, rather than just making money, see their chance of establishing themselves - just like the 60's. I've ...

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
Not intended to be a negative post. I hope Sean Dyche is building something at Burnley which will go down in football history, not just for his achievements with us but for the light he (and the Board) shine generally for how clubs should be run. I agree that it was smart man-management to mention t...

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
I agree, CT, that I don't know that succession plans are not in place and the outstanding way in which the club operates at all levels would lead me to expect there are such plans. All the same, it can't be denied that we don't have a replacement CB 'in the building' in the same way we had for Keane...

Re: Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
To an extent, I agree with you Macca. However, we are much more than most teams an outfit set up from the back, so defenders (and especially CBs) are particularly vital to us.

Succession Planning & Dyche's Own Future Plans
Much was made some time ago of our foresight in having Tarkowski lined up to step in after the inevitable departure of Michael Keane. Most on here would agree that we need a 4th CB for coverage but, besides that, how much can we glean from the lack of succession planning should Tarkowski move on nex...

Re: New brexit poll, big majority for hard brexit
Ringo - Brexit hasn't happened yet so it's far too early to judge the impact. Look again in 2025 or 2030 and see the divergence between the UK and Eurozone economies. The other point is that Brexit was sold as parliament recovering sovereignty. But that's not what's proposed: the inclusion of Henry ...

Re: New brexit poll, big majority for hard brexit
Well, LC, to put my cards on the table, I am intensely bothered about the whole Brexit issue and the forces it had unleashed. My training as a historian leads me to approaching these things in as dispassionate view as possible, however. All my reading of history and study of politics suggests to me ...

Re: New brexit poll, big majority for hard brexit
Coming back to DSR's post 27, he's right that as it stands we're out from March 2019 after the two years triggered by Article 50 are up (unless, as IT says the EU agree to a request for an extension - which could happen if the scenario below pans out). The real problem for the government isn't secur...

Re: New brexit poll, big majority for hard brexit
Yes, KC, is true. You might find Prof Vernon Bogdanor's recent Gresham College lecture interesting on the whole Brexit issue, assuming you haven't already read it. Basically says that there's no such thing as a 'soft' Brexit - just a choice between remain and 'hard' Brexit. As there's no majority fo...

Re: New brexit poll, big majority for hard brexit
Have been watching this thread. Despite one or two attempts to give context, no-one seems to have spotted that only LEAVE voters were polled in this survey, hence it's hardly surprising that the results were as indicated. What's really unacceptable is the way the publicisers bury this key detail in ...

Re: Last day fixtures (21 May)
We couldn't really have wished for a more difficult last day set of fixtures for those likely to be at the bottom. More reasons to be cheerful, I'd say.

Re: Narsingh
Well established fact that we're the lowest payers in the Premier league, behind even some championship clubs, but £20k pw is likely below the mark imho. Likely to be around £30k which should be enough to tempt the player. As ever, depends on who else wants him and how much he wants to play - would ...
