Re: Team for tomorrow
Is that right? I don’t remember ever disagreeing with you previously…. Koleosho turning in a tight area and supplying a striker with a weighted pass? Not happening, I’m afraid. He would need to improve his game immeasurably to have the ability to do this. He will of course pull back to receive the ...

Re: Team for tomorrow
I couldn’t disagree any more. He’d have even less space in the middle and for someone whose weaknesses are close control and awareness this would be a bad move. Maybe if he played as a 9 on the shoulder of the centre halves he could be effective with his pace and space to run into. But as a 10? Not...

Re: Team for tomorrow
Either go full rotation or experiment with our strongest team in a setup designed to breakdown teams that are expected to sit in - where we'll have long periods of the ball... could stand us in good stead for the remainder of the league I disagree. Players who are close to the first team or bench n...

Re: Can we keep hold of CJ ??
People are overlooking Connor Roberts also out of contract in the summer, who has been in absolutely fantastic form in the past few months. Been suggested he wants to return to his beloved South Wales, Swansea a likely destination. Not overlooking. I've put him in the same bracket as Brownhill - he...

Parker seemed relatively confident of getting him down to a new contract. But I can't see Brownhill signing regardless of whether we go up or not.Clive 1960 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 1:43 amI'm very surprised he's not been tied down on a better deal by now just like Brownhill but hopefully the board sort it out soon..

Re: Team for tomorrow
I certainly wouldn't be changing the formation in defence. Why would we with the record we have? That would be ridiculous. I want to see Koleosho in the number 10 with Foster ahead of him. Something like:
Anthony Laurent McDermott Sarmiento
Koleosho
Foster
Anthony Laurent McDermott Sarmiento
Koleosho

I'd like to see Koloesho through the middle as a number 10. People may scoff but can see that being his most dangerous position.

I haven't seen a thread on this, perhaps the FA Cup isn't important enough ;) Anyhow, here's a team I'd like to see. Hladky, Sonne (if he's not suspended), Worrall, Humphreys, Pires, Cullen, Laurent, Anthony, Sarmiento, Koleosho, Foster. You might as well add to this: https://www.uptheclarets.com/m...

He's asked about CJ's contract running out in the summer and comes across as relatively confident we can get a new deal sorted with him.

I'm willing to give Parker the benefit of the doubt over this one. I was a big fan of Shelvey when he played over here so hope he still has it. Different players perform better with different managers. Look at Barton under Dyche for example. He's clearly not going to be asked to start every remainin...

Hugill on loan at Chester, what makes you so confident he’s capable of being a backup for a top championship team Seems to quite a common theory on here, that we can simply bring in someone from the U21s. Shelvey could also play in the 10 role, although I've always found him at his best running from deep through the middle of midfield and speeding the attack up - potentially meaning less passing back/sideways.

On paper we have a good replacement on the bench but the way Trafford has been around the squad this season the bond with other players can’t be forgotten. Ben Mee came here as a full back if I remember rightly and looked a bit too slow, however was it Dyche ( not sure) who moved him to CH and the rest is history as they say, maybe left back is Bashirs new found position going forward in his career. I don’t see any value in playing a totally different 11. The idea should be to integrate new signings and bench players into the side so they are sharper when we need them in the league. Do Reading have any pacey forwards? They are in a lower division but if we put a central defence out such as Worrall Egan, we could be punished with the odd counter.
