Spent 6 weeks in the Black Forest (Kinzig Valley) in July/August. Watched Freiburg Reserves v Homburg in the Dreisamstadion - good game, 5-3 to Freiburg (only game they have won so far) ! Will probably watch Freiburg v Mainz at the end of November. 2 poor results and then go and beat Stuttgart. Ear...

Yes, doing the business at Pauli. Good to see.
Also noted Massengo started again in that game. Seems to have a regular place under Wagner.
Watched Obafemi on Friday, came on at 75. Bochum are struggling after relegation and Hecking's rebuild. Could be a long season for them.

Against Derby our delivery was awful. Yesterday, both our delivery and defending (especially) was just as bad, if not worse.

Reading an Augsburg newspaper report the other day, they weren't too impressed with his stats. 60 odd profi starts (I think) with several clubs, yet 0 assists and 0 goals. It's Sandro Wagner's first trainer post after his brief spell as Germany's co-trainer, so it will be interesting. His media work...

Sad news.
Remembering fondly his paper reviews on CM.
Great to read so many messages for a much loved and well respected Claret.

I bumped into a PNE fan from Paderborn at the England Slovenia match during the euros. Naturally he was a former QLR. Arriving in '92, most automatically thought I was a QLR leftover, as they'd just left Alanbrooke bks. Met the odd Claret over the years, mainly visiting troops out and about in town...

Quite interesting reading their English Twitter account. They all seem very taken in and besotted by the 'sympathisch' Kompany. Speaking German and coaching the youngsters (McNally style). He's never worked with 'world class' players before....but played with them apparently. It's all positive at th...

We had this discussion at work the other day. A standing ticket costs €14 (here anyway) which includes the free use of public transport 2 hours before and after the game. You have the choice of standing or sitting, having a beer whilst watching and even smoking a fag (which I hate too). The away gam...

I'm a Gildert, and it's incredible how many times I get my name 'corrected' to Gilbert. My great grandfather was born a Jelbert in St Just, but on arriving in Burnley with his brothers, they all appear as Gilbert in the censuses thereafter. In Cornwall our surname changes literally with each census...

Did a FTDNA test after finding my Cornish ancestry. The Cornish varients of my surname was a minefield and others encouraged me to to do one. Joined the Gilbert and Cornish projects on FamilyTree which is fascinating. Discovered I'm I1-M253 which is not your normal 'Celtic' dna found amongst other C...

I remember watching PU years ago. Non league if I remember rightly. About 1989/90 ish. Lived in elsen village for a couple of years. Yep, have to agree.
Been stood there many a time whilst Paderborn are thumping someone 5-0 and playing sublime. All becomes irrelevant when Burnley are losing.
Even after 30 years away, it doesn't get any better.

Now and again. Don't have a season ticket anymore. The club ripped us all off after the promotion last time... I'm a stubborn sod and refused to attend the matches on principle.
All the glory hunters will be back again...frustrating but the norm.

Absolutely. Every town I served in had annual bier fests and schutzenfests (which I loved cos I love shooting to this day.) here in the uk we occasionally get a german/euro style market but they want £8 for a brattie and a gluhwein and that annoys me. We keep saying we will fly over and have the re...

Understandable CT.
Everyone has a soft spot for certain clubs.
They became Leeds overnight
