He picked up some strange infection in his foot from walking on a beach somewhere (?aus) and it wasn't possible to get rid of the infection so he needed his foot amputating hence a below knee amputation to get a good prosthetic fit

That sounds a simple and idea solution from a supporter's perspective, but of course the club would have to consider broader factors, for example significant depreciation of the value of whichever one does not play. We may not be able to hold on to all those 11 if the bigger clubs come looking ££££££££££££££££.

Not sure gay couples would agree with losing husband and wife, common references when a gay man refers to his partner or woman to her partner respectively.
This loss of gender drives me nuts- we cannot even refer to a ship as a she anymore. As for chairman/woman far better than the inanimate "chair"

It really was apparent from the outset. It was quite a surprise to see SD first game in charge how the defence was tightened up. Of course at the other end Austin's prolific scoring came to an abrupt halt. That season Austin bagged 14 in the first 13 games and 10 in the last 33 and half the 60 goals...

I think both Wolves and Villa are teams we have found difficult to get results in the time I have watched us. Villa was nearly always a defeat at their place with some form of result here but in 1962 I think after we won at Villa we then won perhaps just one game in the run in that cost us the leagu...
