Re: ARTICLE: Estève was our best in Everton defeat
I'm shocked that anyone would be comparing Esteve to Keane or Tarkowski at this stage. He has had some decent games and some poor games so far.
As yet, he's a long way off comparisons to two of our top three centre halves in recent years, in my opinion.

My understanding from what I’ve read is as follows: Esteve and Larsen are to sign permanently because their loans included the obligation to buy. Tresor has already signed permanently, but there does now appear to some doubt about this, although it seems to stem from the fact he’s been dropped from ...

Muric Vitinho — Ekdal — Esteve — Taylor JBG — Cullen — Berge — Larsen Odobert — Foster Brighton carry a big threat down their left with their LB Estupinan who sees a lot of the ball and combines well with one of their wingers. For that reason I’d play JBG in front of Vitinho to help defend that flan...

I can't see him wanting to be in that sort of setup either - which to me is his self-belief / arrogance. Reading between the lines that's why he left Anderlecht as well and why he joined us in the first place (that level of control/influence). Now, I could be wrong but I have a feeling that he may ...

I questioned myself on what I’d seen when I saw this quote from our manager on the way home. “I don't think you need to overanalyse [the mistakes]," Kompany told BBC Match of the Day when asked about Muric's error and O'Shea's red card. Nonsense (my last post to this). Some stats are obscure, others are direct relevance to goals. The one you objected to today wasn’t an obscure stat like xG, it was simply goals conceded from open play. My point was simple - that half a dozen sides have conceded similar. That’s not an opinion, it is...

Indeed. And it is shocking. Stats can show when someone is right and someone else is wrong. Like with you in this case. We have conceded 42 from non set pieces. Chelsea have conceded 38. Brentford 46. West Ham 40. Yes, we are poor at it, but there are worse sides. It isn’t the reason why we are going down. Attack is. And, I w...

Re: The cost of playing out badly
We have conceded 42 from open play, City have 23. So if the figure was indeed 20 we would be better than City other than this at defending, so it obviously isn’t. I suspect the figure is more like 6-7. And I bet other teams are similar. It isn’t our issue, attack is. But the “overplaying” has been ...

He has improved, and credit for that, but the difference between who we tried to sign across the team and who we actually signed is a huge gulf. Newcastleclaret is a plonker more often than not, everyone knows that, but he has a point here. Kompany inherited some Dyche warriors and their impact on the 22/23 season shouldn't be underestimated. It’s very gracious of us to nullify our biggest threat by playing Foster from the right, if indeed that’s what we’re doing again.
Kompany has a habit of not learning lessons until it’s too late this season but surely he could see on Tuesday that Foster is absolutely not a wide right.
