Like Barton's, they were trivial bets and not enough to be worthy of any suspicion of match fixing. Basically, the kid showed about as much intelligence as the average house brick. It's the same in horse racing - jockeys are not allowed to bet, full stop. (They have their phone records checked as a matter of course, and possession of an undeclared mobile phone is not allowed either.) (Owners and trainers, strangely, are allowed to bet; but not against their own horse.)
