Southampton 2-0 down at half time at home.
Bournemouth also had a goal ruled out through VAR
Things not looking good for them at the moment.

Loving it. I live in north Hampshire, there are a lot of fans of the London clubs here + Reading, Saints and Portsmouth. Saints fans are the ones I find the worst (in terms of seeing themselves as a "big club" and deserving of success).
Not only that but I had a small bet on for the away win at 5/2 and it's already been paid out (Bet365 pay out on a win bet if your team goes 2 up).
Hope Cherries can hold on. Whoops- a pen given.

Var - BOTH WRONG
SHamp player - was never going to get to that ball - simply caused his own collision. PEN GIVEN
BMouth player - Brought down shaping to shoot standing Leg taken out - PEN NOT GIVEN
What is the point?

Especially as the other one was given
It’s almost like it wasn’t enough to overturn the decision. I bet if the ref had given a penalty and it had been reviewed, the penalty would have stood
Almost like “umpires call” in cricket

Because the VAR ref is Graham Scott and he’s constantly an idiot

Agree with you.
But surely that is not the point of Var(ce) / Var(se)

Southampton are a technically good side but they can’t defend and don’t have a goal scorer.

We don't dodge bullets, we make reasoned, well informed decisions.

A sorry Saints performance.
That Gunn is a very dodgy keeper. Not sure how he could be considered on the fringe of England squad.

They've got a couple of former goalscorers though

We should have stopped messing around and just paid £30m for him rather than going in with low-ball offers.

Deja vu. Won’t be long until their 15 game losing streak.

Not really sure where the pre-season optimism around Southampton came from - I think the BBC had them ranked 12th.
Adams was a punt with probably a 40/60 chance of delivering and they still display the same defensive frailties as last year. So far they've got lucky at Brighton with Andone's stupid red card and edged passed a very limited Sheffield United. Expect them to be in and around the bottom places again.

Ingsy will not be pc as they are desperate to get Adams up and running.
Bournemouth and in particular Lerma were lax in their own half and they were let off the hook by the lack of a cutting edge. Saints seem to rely on Redmond doing the business in the final third. They played some great stuff in midfield but they are not good enough centrally in both boxes which will see them struggle.

Keeper is an issue for them. Doesn’t seem to inspire confidence - reminiscent of when Hart is in the nets for us.
Adams seems overawed by the Premier League.

To be fair, Adams could still be a good player at PL level, but needs time.
I can see EH having patience with Solanki, he will get time to develop because EH would have to be absolutely rubbish to get the sack.

For much of that second half after the pen I just thought Southampton would go on and at least draw the game given how poor Bournemouth are defensively.
Pens - not so sure on the one that Southampton got but Bournemouth's was a definite penalty for me. There's a reluctance to change pen decisions though by VAR as we saw at Wolves.
Southampton don't look that good though from what I've seen of them.

Absolutely no idea how that was a pen for Southampton? He fell into the Bournemouth player? Not even a foul.
Like said above, what’s the point if it’s still getting things wrong? Please don’t say they’ll even out over the season, because it should now be 100% correct.

How can penalty decisions be 100% correct? Just not possible. Also not possible for 'deliberate handball' or simulation to ever be 100% correct. Pretty basic really.

So if VAR understands why the decision was originally given it is unlikely to overturn that decision. Once folk get into that mindset the better.

Of course I should have been clearer. I mean able to reverse a decision with 100% certainty via VAR if they can see why it was given in the first place.

It does still stand that those areas are the most likely to have arguments for and against.
