Does anyone have a favorite crazy game?
I remember one from the 82/83 season where we played Leicester at home and lost 2:4, but what was so memorable was all the penalties and Alan Stevenson getting sent off. I think Paul McGee took one and missed and than had to face one too. If memory serves Leicester missed one too. BUT unfortunately we lost.

Both Paul McGee & Brian Laws missed penalties and the same two players both went in goal for us. Didn't Lineker take a dive for the Stevenson red card?

One crazy game was at Sunderland on Easter Monday 1972. We were 3-1 with 13 minutes to go and 4-3 behind with 10 minutes to go. 4-3 was the final score.

Another Sunderland bonkers game was when we were 0-0 at half time and Sunderland had had two sent off in the first half. I said to a mate it was only a matter of how many we scored in the second half. We lost 0-2. And it was at home.
There was something about Mick Docherty in that game as well. Had he gone on to manage them?

I can't believe that was 17 years ago. Scoring 5 away and losing - nonsense stuff.

With Branch and Arthur Gnohere at centre half we did well to keep it to 89

I’ve twice been on Roker when we had a 1-3 lead to lose 4-3. Got mugged post game after the first but I was about 14 and solo.
You have your Claret specs on for Stevos sending off. It was a horrible wet pitch and he slid about 10yds as he came out but he wiped him out. Never realised it was Lineker. Tyson was reffing, never one of my favourites but it was the first season I remember them going heavy handed with red cards. Because of the conditions it could have been a booking.

Was that crazy or just downright ridiculous?

They can't be that many times you score 5 away from home and still don't pick a single point up

The day of my 17th birthday. Had a few, and remember little. Couldn’t focus on the ball. Several wobbly pints on the Longside.

I remember the grimsby game because I was living in scunny at the time so thought I'd take my 9 year old daughter to her first game, thinking it would be a boring goalless draw and she wouldn't want to go again. The rest is history and all she did was walk round the house for 2 weeks singing your **** and you stink of fish

Burnley 7 York 2 (I think that was the score) I remember coming off the game thinking we didn't really deserve much from the game but it just seemed everytime we attacked we scored.
Pretty sure Chris Brass scored one too that went in off his backside or something like that.
Anyone else remember the game slightly better than me?

I worked for a while with Rob Scott who played for Rotherham in that game.

I guess the worst one for me watching online in the States and not actually being there was probably the 2: 4 Spurs semi-final in 2009... a heart breaker but totally crazily memorable.

Yeah I've got a vague recollection of it. Got a feeling Andy Cooke might have scored 3 or 4 that day?

Chris Waddle season (IRC) so likely to be a partnership of Cook and Barnes up front, if we hadn't bought Payton in by that point.

Great air swing from Winstanley for the opening goal for York.
Payts was playing.

In the last minute of the Grimsby game one of our players got hacked down in front of the dougouts and whilst both benches spilled on to the pitch swinging their handbags at each other the ref waved play on and Blake missed a golden chance to make it 6-6. Summed up the madness of the whole night
Think its only time ive seen us lose and walked off the ground quite happy such was the level of comedy and entertainment

Was it Bob Taylor who scored all 5 goals in a 0 5 home defeat a few years ago?

I think a modern one was the 2-0 at home to Liverpool.
80 minutes they must have been camped in our half but never looked like scoring.

Paul Barnes 5 Stockport 2 in the mid 90's,that was amazing and all the sweeter it was against that shower.
