I can endlessly watch videos of him talking about and playing his riffs and the songs that influenced them but this is my fav clip.

His stories are facinating, the one about lending a very expensive guitar to Noel Gallagher is a good un.

Theres a good one of how the boss of Sire records took him out to buy a guitar for him as part of a sweetener to get the Smiths to sign to them in the US.

Marr got it back to the hotel, started playing about with it and basically wrote Panic on the spot

His fave' band he played in is The The.
True fact. He always pops round Matts but could not join in last year with the dates clashing with his. He recommended Little Barry to take his place.

Check out The The's "Mind Bomb" & "Dusk" albums.

Regret not seeing him in 2018 at some small place in Houston TX. Was in town watching Arctic Monkeys the night after so had a search for gigs on the night before. He was playing, and well I should have gone. A few days later he was sat just behind me watching the same band at the Hollywood Bowl. Absolute genius of a guitar player.

Still in his teens when he wrote the riffs for their first album. Such brilliant talent even at a young age.

When I was 8 (1989) I got a NOW rip-off called The Hits Tape 10. It had The Beat(en) Generation on it which really stood out thanks to Marr's guitar in amongst all the dance and hip-hop elsewhere on the album.

That very song helped me get into The The years later and such was its prescience it could have been written tomorrow.
