A ship wreck in the south coast of Mauritius .

Post by davemanu2000 » Sat Aug 22, 2020 6:16 am

Watkasio ,a Japanese vessel , carrying heavy oil from China to Bresil capsized due to its too near approach to the breakers .the captain and the staff are arrested and are under investigation .In the meantime foreign assistance from France ,England ,Japan India and some other countries rescued our affected coast .the young population was present and helped tremendously to wipe out the floating petroleum product.Say after one week it will be as previously .
The ship which broke into two parts was towed and dumped about 30 kms from the coast under the supervision of about 20 experts who were sent by UNO .
As usual the coasts in the east ,west and north are in splendid condition with sparkling water over the white fine sand .
Since almost three months there is no victim of corona virus in Mauritius . The govt took timely measures but 10 persons were declared dead including five who landed from foreign countries .
It is more likely that our airport will be open to welcome foreigners within one month most likely .Nowadays the hotels are empty . The staff is being paid by the state partly .

Nice job. Glad you’ve all come together and sorted it out. Hopefully your economy will get back up and running before too long!

I’m due to be in Mauritius at the end of October Dave, we’re really looking forward to it. We’re staying on the northeast coast. It will be our first time on the island.

Mauritius is on our dive radar for 2023....I believe the crew are being investigated as it is reported they were having a party for a member of staff when they ran aground....

Glad you are safe mate and that the ecological disaster is not as bad as it could have been!
