Burnley fan in Cyprus

Post by ClaretMov » Fri Oct 02, 2020 1:17 pm

My Brother has just moved out there and bumped into this guy in the supermarket carpark he's from Burnley originally and said there is a Paphos clarets supporters group also.

Does anyone know him

We're having a holiday near Paphos soon. Any idea where they meet up?

Shaun angeli. Think I've spelt it right. Good lad and proper centre forward in local leagues years ago.

Is that really Shaun Angeli? I don't know him but I went to football, home and away, with his brother Daz who was tragically killed in a car accident when he was 19. Daz is going to get a mention in a couple of months time in the 1972/73 reports. Shaun used to post on this board.

As I said, didn't know him but Daz was a good lad I was at school with. And yes, you have spelt it right.

Blimey, is that Shaun ? I would never have recognised him.

I played football both with him and against him over the years.

A good lad.

We tried in vain to find the Cyprus clarets a few years ago whilst on holiday. Can't say we tried too hard though tbh.

Alexanders bar looks to be the meeting point according to the book of faces.

If memory serves me right Alexander's is just off First and Last Street, at least that's the Brits name for it.
I haven't been for about 5 years now, but if I ever moved abroad Cyprus would be top of the list

Friends Bar and Evies near The Paphos Gardens, am sure I've met that feller before...

My m8 lived out there and was on the fringes of the Paphos Clarets before he passed away 3 years ago...

Friends bar is definitely on the first and last street. I assume the street is nicknamed after the pub which was at the top but has now moved further down.

It is mad bumping into Burnley fans all over the place. Last time I was coming back to Burnley to see family I spotted a middle aged guy in a Burnley top as I drove through Barrowford. I beeped my horn and waved but sadly I was in a rush so didnt stop or get a photo.

If the Burnley fan from Barrowford posts on here then hopefully he'll see this and might remember me beeping at him. If not maybe someone on here knows who the Barrowford Burnley fan is and can let us all know to see if he's a good lad and anyone can remember him from back in the day.

I doubt he posts as much rubbish as you. Pity you're not in a rush more often!
