Not the worst miss, but when Grezza missed that penalty against Bristol City the whole ground was in shock for a few seconds and it seemed to go completely silent whilst we all tried to comprehend what had just happened. Always stuck with me that one
Probably stuck with him too. I bet he wakes up in cold sweats at the very thought of it

I can't remember who we played but it's amazing how little moments like that stay with you.
One that sticks with me, because it never happened, was Dobo being robbed of the ball just into our half. Shock! Horror!
No idea what happened next but WTF?
Dobo dispossessed?!

John Angus once put a penalty almost to the back of the Bee Hole terrace. I think it was against Leicester, but maybe not. Definitely right at the end of a match we won.

He put it outside the ground, right over the top of the terracing. Still never sure why Cool John Angus was taking a penalty.

Frankly pre VAR we have had precious few penalties to speak of.

Raheem Sterling without a doubt, not just the miss but the tantrum that followed
There were 2 simultaneous tantrums. When Serling missed I looked over at Guardiola from the JHL and he was having a fit. Sterling was subbed shortly after.

A game in the late 60s, can’t remember the team. Ralph Coates beat umpteen players, cutting in from the right wing and got to the goal post where he chipped it to Frank Casper in front of an open goal. Frank blasted it clean over the BeeHole end, which was uncovered then but still quite high. As Casper was laid on the floor in despair, Ralph walked over and mockingly put his foot over his head.
Incredible miss.

Back in the bleak period of the eighties Phil Malley had an open goal ,from only two yards out he went to tap it in at the back post with the goalkeeper on the floor eight yards away. Phil managed to miss the ball which caught between his legs and he fell down and the goalie wandered across and picked up the ball. At the time the crowds were terrible so there wasn't many witnesses!
I do remember the Casper one which was as bad as Gifton's penalty.

Can't remember too many on the turf that haven't been mentioned but I remember Nathan Peel missing a sitter away at Wigan, near the end to level the match I think. Couldn't believe it.

Thanks for that. I was sure it was against Luton but I’ve been proven wrong. That is definitely Millwall with the green and white halves away kit they had at the time. Cheers.
