Re: Cecil Hotel
Watched it over the weekend, difficult to say my thoughts as I don't want to spoil for other people, but one of the conspiracy theories relating to her University (if that doesn't give to much away) stuck with me.

Re: Cecil Hotel
Really interesting watch. Watched it all in one fell swoop.
These 'Web sleuths' really need to get out more.

If you compare the "web sleuths" from Cecil Hotel to the ones from Don't F**k with Cats, polar opposites.Jambounchained wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 4:25 pmReally interesting watch. Watched it all in one fell swoop.

Re: Cecil Hotel
Fell asleep earlier today after putting this on from the recommendation on here. Thanks for the advice, haven’t slept so well for a while

Re: Cecil Hotel
Haven't seen the documentary yet but know a fair bit about the Elisa Lam case and don't quite understand why it's all being billed as some big mystery. Won't go into it too much further as I don't want to spoil it for people planning on watching.

Re: Cecil Hotel
Just booked a family room for next summer at the cecil. Hopefully covid is cleared up by then (it’s not cheap)
Re: Cecil Hotel
It’s a terrible programme.
It was always going to get good viewing numbers, on the back of the bizarre lift footage that did the rounds, at the time.
Typical strung out, sensationalist documentary - built up throughout to continue the narrative that went with the lift footage.
It could only ever end as a damp squib and it did.

Re: Cecil Hotel
Four hour long episodes of content that could have been put into two at best.
Having heard the third or fourth 'web sleuth' tell me how they disagreed with something related to the case became tedious quickly.
As DC has already said, it was bloated and built up to nothing.

Re: Cecil Hotel
I watched it, just ok, no way I'd want to stay at that hotel !! Also watched the one on the former head of the IMF (DSK) who was also in the running for the President of France, thought that was much better, certainly brought two different schools of thought and discussion in our home around what unfolded.

Re: Cecil Hotel
Exactly this. Disappointing and predictable I thought. There's always be 'strange goings on' where you stick a hotel next to a notorious area like that with cheap rooms. You'll probably have seen/heard things about the Kierby!DCWat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 11:47 amIt’s a terrible programme.

American's are typically the type to get hyped up about it all which must be the reasoning behind a Netflix series on

Re: Cecil Hotel
Started watching but gave up after about 10 minutes. Just too over sensationalised.
Reminded me of the River Monsters programmes. Lots of hyping up a monster in the deep that is eating locals etc. Lots of suspense and stories of past sightings. Then guy goes fishing and if he is lucky catches a large trout
