He wanted a two year from us and we were only offering from one as I remember, he would have stayed but for the longer contract Rangers agreed to.

With all the faffing by us to shoe horn in someone on the right wing, and at times its like playing with 10 men, its hard to see that he still could not be playing a major role for us. Personally whilst I thought at the time of leaving his contribution and abilities were diminishing, we really miss the wholeheartedness that went into his play. His time at Rangers has proved he hasn't lost it

When you look at the recent extensions of contracts in our team I must confess that here is a guy that got away

Yes he could certainly have still played a role at Burnley, and we've never really replaced him have we, one of his major assets was popping up with useful goals from midfield, and that's something we're badly lacking in the past couple of seasons, plus his energy and workrate was a vital cog in our machine.

And for all of those who think he's only shining due to the poor standard of Scottish football, Scotty has also been one of Rangers standouts in their European runs, so that alone would suggest he could still have hacked it at PL level, maybe not as a regular starter, but he'd have been a more than useful squad player that's for sure.

Yes he would, one of Scott's qualities was he was rarely injured, and when you have a small squad that's a vital commodity for players to possess, Hendrick also falls into that category, hence why managers whatever we may think really value these steady eddies who can play a couple of different positions when called upon.
