Houseplant Buffs

My wife did a good deed for a neighbour and she came round with this last night can any houseplant buffs on here tell us what it is so we can show it some love and affection and take care off it

Get the "plantsnap" app take a picture and hey presto you find out what it is ... then you can google it simples....

The Mrs thinks it is a Cyclamen of some sort

I remember years ago my Mum bought a pot with some London Pride at a jumble sale in the village ... it was 50p ... when she bought it home my Dad said "why buy a bloody London Pride in a pot for 50p, we have a bloody garden full of the damned stuff" so she pointed to the saucer the pot was stood on and said "thats why" ......

Make sure you water from underneath by standing it in a couple of cms of water and not by pouring water on top of it. If you have a fine spray to lightly spray the leaves now and again that will help its vitality.

I just read that it doesn't work offline because their database is online, not on the phone. Is this the case, Bosscat?

I wouldn't think any app like that would work off line? as the number of plant/tree species is so bloody huge

Thanks for that. There are a couple that work offline, but I don't know how good they are. I'll have to read some reviews. One that works solely on online won't be much good for us. Many rural and remote areas where we go walking don't even have G3 coverage, never mind G4.

"Make sure the plant has excellent drainage with a potting medium that holds water well. Water your cyclamen plant only when the soil is dry to the touch, but do not leave the plant in this dry state so long that it shows visible signs of not being watered, such as droopy leaves and flowers."

Need to copy this before a piece of non-football gets removed

7 months on my wife and I are over the moon its flowered again,never had an houseplant that's lived so long and flowered twice,dosent look as healthy but it's still alive...yours Mr & Mrs Chuffed

water's for wimps. Admittedly I'm not big on gardening and the like, but the one plant I ever owned and which thrived, sat in a corner of my office for years, living on a diet of cold coffee; it must've been happy enough as it sprouted lots of shiny green leaves and needed chopping back from time to time. would the London Pride flower live on a diet of beer do you reckon?

We have a houseplant in our kitchen window. It looked like it was headed for the great garden in the sky. It really didn't look well.
I decided to give it, what I thought was Miracle Gro in January. One last chance at revival.
I didn't know that the liquid in the plant sprayer (it's a frosted sprayer so looked blue) was actually fairy liquid. It was usually full of Miracle-Gro.
I feared the worst when the missus informed me I'd accidentally given it a heavy dose of fairy liquid.

Surprisingly it perked up remarkably quickly and within a few weeks was sprouting several new leaves. It's actually healthier now than it ever was.

I'm not advocating people start feeding their plants fairy liquid but it certainly worked for this plant.

Your web link looks like houseplant sexpert. There are deviants everywhere but that is a new one.
