I think he was a bit lenient towards Liverpool in first half with some of the over physical challenges, something he was not against us. Provably effected by the huge home crowd. So for me not as consistent as he usually is.

Oh dear I have a completely different opinion to most of the posters as I thought we were up against 12 for large parts of the match.
A 20
B.10
C.25 Very fit and well positioned.
D.10 He made damned sure we behaved ourselves and the Scousers went home happy.
MD made sure his windows are safe. Living on the Wirral he will be surrounded by Scousers. Poor choice of ref for this fixture IMHO.

Good game from him.
Apart from missing the red cards for Wood and Barnes.

Spot on John
Dean was a home blower who denied us a stone wall penalty and how Klopp could winge about him is beyond me

He doesn’t live on the Wirral anymore. I thought he was inconsistent today.

He’s a cut above but I didn’t think today was his best game. Sounds like sour grapes from me but three decisions he got wrong which really put us under additional pressure.
The first was Barnes’ clean header against Matip when we would have won a corner. The second was Mee’s completely clean challenge on the edge of the box resulting in a Liverpool free kick in a dangerous position - I think they got a corner resulting from this. The third was when we were really under the cosh and Taylor (I think) was fouled near the edge of our box, the ball was cleared forward for one of our strikers to chase and he played advantage, despite Allison being favourite to get to the ball first.
Add that to the early body check on JBG at the edge of their box which went unpunished, and Jota’s kick out at Barnes, which in fairness was more of a VAR decision. It may be nitpicking to some degree, but it wasn’t anywhere near flawless from Dean today.

Genuine question. Why can you only post if you attended the game? Every one of the scoring criteria can be done by an armchair fan.
Who attends a game to watch a referee other than the assessor?

I normally like him but I thought he gave them everything today and nothing to us. Only seen it once live at the game.

Agree. Love Dean as a ref but today I would have rather have had Mike Rileybobs

Shan’t mark as I wasn’t there but thought there was a notable difference between his first and second half performances yesterday.
First half was impeccable. Second half I thought a lot of petty decisions were needlessly taken and all seemed to go against us.
As others have said, Dean is still the best ref in the country.
He had a decent game and nothing he did affected scoreline or result.

The body check on gudmundson went far beyond a foul imo, absolutely disgraceful that it wasn't punished. It's a foul in anybodys book, took him clean out.

A ‘shoulder to shoulder’ coming together according to the useless McManaman. Other than one player was running towards the ball with every intention of getting it and the other was running at a 90 degree angle to the ball straight into the other player.

Somebody advised him he hadn't read the script at HT.

I didn't go so I won't mark, but I would have given him high marks. He had nothing to do and so he did nothing. I have seen so many refs have an easy game with nothing to do and they start blowing for pointless free kicks and give pointless bookings and basically get involved where they aren't needed.

Not going to mark him but I thought there was a period in the game he was their best player, the absolute epitome of a 'homer'. Quite out of character for him.

Dean was excellent again imo and still leads the way by a country mile imo
