Any Kendal/Cumbria Clarets?

Post by ClaretAndJew » Wed Aug 25, 2021 5:41 pm

I'm moving to Kendal in the next couple of weeks, and wondering if any Clarets are in the area that may be able to offer any advice on good places locally to go do/see, any nice hiking spots, anything to avoid or any other advice for living in the area! Even anyone wanting to meet up for a pint/share driving down to Turf/Watching Burnley in the pub etc!

UTC!

Not a local at all but seem to recall from visits that the Rainbow Tavern used to show all the Burnley games and there was always a congregation of Clarets there watching. The landlord was certainly a supporter, hope he still runs it.

There are definitely a few Clarets living in Kendal that I know of but not all attend although my youngest son and myself are both season ticket holders. Plenty of pubs and eating places in the centre of Kendal but I'm pretty sure there is no longer a Clarets fan at the Rainbow.
Hope you have your own transport as you wouldn't want to rely on public transport here!

Thanks Dave!

Yes have my own car! Will be commuting to Kirkby Lonsdale on the regular!

I've not really checked the town out much but it looks like a great area and I'm excited by my move!

We always like visiting The Watermill pub in a tiny nearby village called Ings when up near Kendal.

The Watermill is a cracking little pub.
They have their own micro brewery next door and sell their own ales, not too shabby. Decent food and I believe the accommodation they offer is good.
It's run be a lady named Alison and her 2 sons.

Well if it's any recommendation I moved here over 30 years ago for job purposes and wouldn't want to live anywhere else now.
You might find the somewhat bizarre one way traffic system a bit tricky to start with but you soon get used to it!

The couple who run this company are both Cumbrian based Clarets. They travel to games and also really know the fells inside out.
