Re: Vydra & Wood
I'd probably start Vydra, due to his movement and pace, but you also do have to accept, that he will miss many key chances.
Re: Vydra & Wood
Wood scored 9 goals in 9 games with Vydra alongside him last season.

At least we seem to create them with Vydra in the team though. We’re not creating anywhere near enough at the moment.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:12 amI'd probably start Vydra, due to his movement and pace, but you also do have to accept, that he will miss many key chances.

Re: Vydra & Wood
Created enough last night - Wood and Brownhill missed very good chances, there's the goal, and a probable penalty. I don't think it's the goals for column that's the problem at the moment.
Re: Vydra & Wood
Yes Vydra has to come in.
Re: Vydra & Wood
Two ways to look at it. Firstly, we have scored 2 goals in four games, both from ‘second balls’ following set pieces - considered open play but arguably not. So some may say our open play goals is 0 so far. Also, we rarely kill games off when we are in control - last night and Leeds game prime examples. We need to be more ruthless and get that second goal when we are so on top.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:18 amCreated enough last night - Wood and Brownhill missed very good chances, there's the goal, and a probable penalty. But, I also see what you mean in the sense Burnley of old were so consistent at keeping clean sheets and grinding out wins (so many 1-0s). Whereas now we look nowhere near a clean sheet to be honest.
Re: Vydra & Wood
It's both. And you're not talking about the goals for column, you're talking about the chances made column which is very different.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:18 amCreated enough last night - Wood and Brownhill missed very good chances, there's the goal, and a probable penalty. Chances aren't goals and both ones in open play should have been converted. They weren't because Wood isn't firing yet and because Brownhill is generally average at most things.
Wood fires best with Vydra alongside him. I'd take Vydra scoring none if it helps Wood score 10+.

I need to watch this penalty incident again. I can’t remember it!dandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:18 amCreated enough last night - Wood and Brownhill missed very good chances, there's the goal, and a probable penalty. I don't think it's the goals for column that's the problem at the moment.
Saw the Wood chance back on the highlights. That was a much worse miss than it looked to me live. Brownhill was a good chance, I agree.
But my point was more that the forwards are creating anything. We need to put it on a plate for Wood or rely on a defender. Vydra seems to always create something for himself.

Penalty was the foul on Tarkowski on the corner.NewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:32 amI need to watch this penalty incident again. I can’t remember it!

Re: Vydra & Wood
I think Taylor and McNeil is a good partnership and if roberts and Cornett can come up with some more creativity and pace we can make more chances at least.
From the right we normally have gudmunson who has to cut in on his left (found out after trying it once) lowton crosses so early cause he knows he doesn’t have the legs to get back.
I’m sorry but playing a throw in for Westwood to volley over the top to two target men with no pace is just not good enough

Re: Vydra & Wood
Seems a bit odd that even though Wood & Vydra proved that they are the best partnership, Dyche has gone back to Barnes.
Re: Vydra & Wood
We had this discussion time and time again last season when it was obvious that the Barnes and Wood combination just wasn’t working. Dyche only played (was forced to play) Vydra when Barnes was injured. Had Barnes not got injured the Barnes/Wood starting lineup would have continued and we would probably have been relegated (imo).
What exactly has Dyche got against Vydra? It seems to be something more that just loyalty to Barnes.

If he waits until Christmas the partnership will be very short-lived, since Chris Wood will be playing in a series of Oceanic World Cup qualifiers somewhere in the Middle East during the month of January 2022.

And this is one of the main problems with SD.Mala591 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 4:16 pmWe had this discussion time and time again last season when it was obvious that the Barnes and Wood combination just wasn’t working. He sometimes doesn't see what every man and his dog can see, and he only makes the changed when forces. Mee playing LB, McNeil coming in, Vydra given a chance - all forced, thankfully. We keep having to wait until he has no choice, before the correct move is made.

I think the word you are looking for is Stubborn or maybe Obstinate?
