Burnley Park Run

Post by Shappie » Mon Nov 08, 2021 4:01 pm

Can anybody tell me if there are any grass / "off-road" sections of the Burnley park run, or is it all on tarmac?

Thanks

It’s all tarmac or packed gravel path, flat though if you don’t like hills!

I seem to remember a section near the footy changing rooms that's over grass, as you go between/past the trees.

Correct, could be boggy at times.
Having said that I’ve not done the run for 4 years.

That section has been tarmacked over now, no grass areas at all now.

If you’re considering footwear then road trainers are fine, it’s also fine to run/walk whilst pushing a pram 😆 it does hold water in some areas (top end of the football pitches at the Cliviger side of the park)…reasonably flat but you have to run twice up the Avenue so be warned 😉

There is the avenue to run up twice, but to be fair I’ve hardly ever noticed it, having many times taken part in the Pendle park run where you have to run from the bottom to the top of alkincoates park twice!
That’s why I much prefer Burnley park run.

Alkincoats is far better. You call at the lovely cafe next to the bowling green before the second lap for refreshments.
