Roverrrrs on a Roll.

Post by Jamesy » Sat Dec 11, 2021 5:56 pm

The horse botherers will be getting excited and mouth frothing even more now Tony Mowbray seems to be getting a tune out of his team. A few weeks ago I was thinking they had a shout of getting into the play offs. Now they could be in an automatic slot in a few weeks. They certainly seem to be playing with confidence and a good team spirit.

How can a team get beat 7-0 at home then a couple of months later be promotion contenders, is that a reflection of the Championship this season ?

Chelsea got beat 5-2 at home by West Brom who got relegated then Chelsea went on to win the Champions League.

It’s football good teams have really bad off days now and again.

It’s good that they’re having an excellent run now and not at the end of the season.

It will end, though, and they’ll still be a Championship side next season.

Their form is rather worrying at the moment.

Here's hoping they miss out on the playoffs on the final day.

No, it would be better if they missed automatic promotion on the final day by a single goal and then get beaten over two legs in play off semi final by a team who finished 9 points behind them. Now that would be satisfying.

Breterton off to the Brighton in January should derail their promotion bid.

The boycott will have to be put on hold now they are near the top.

For those of you who don't remember for whatever reason, we used to be miles behind them

And I mean miles behind them

So far behind them that we did wonder if we'd ever play them again

And whatever happens, that will never, ever, ever, ever happen again

Worst case scenario is that we've be a division apart

This is nothing to worry about compared to what it was!

They've now as good a chance as anyone around them of going up, particularly through the play offs.

I just hope they fade away....

Indeed LC, they were light years ahead of us at one point, when they were champions of England ( ouch that hurt) I think we were getting relegated ( again) to Div 1.....let's enjoy it while we can.

Proves how much the gap has opened back up, seen a couple of there games and I won't take away the good form but it's not good quality.

I stand by if we go down even with losing some player's we could bring enough in to get a top 3 finish.

If they went up..it won't last long.

We could be 4th from bottom by tomorrow afternoon, if we continue to rise we'll be suffering from vertigo soon.

Let's hope this is yet another false dawn for Rovers, I can recall Burnley riding high at Christmas in the Champ, and then plummeting like a stone in the new year, usually following the sale of a key player or two.

Is it worth chatting about things like parachute payments, strength of our squad, the manager etc?
We also don't know the terms of things like financial repayments etc depsite some thinking they've got a clue when it comes to a negative viewpoint.

Or shall I just go ahead with smashing my head against a wall?

When the barely sentient plankton that masquerades as their fan base were calling for Mowbray’s head not so long back, I was praying their wish would come true, because they wouldn’t be able to appoint anybody even approaching Mowbray’s quality. Unfortunately it didn’t and here we are.

Phew, because it's quite tiresome when people don't seem to be able grasp the basics.
Love the vagueness of time will tell, which means it could be 20yrs before we implode financially and you'd claim you were right.

We were always tip in at Xmas when Cotterpin was in charge. Then we had to sell our best player for (not £20,000,000 granted) as much as we could get, then we'd slide down the razorblade of championship life.
This happened at least twice, maybe three times, under Cotterill.

Point is, if Rovers try the same philosophy, they won't go up.

it will be very enjoyable to watch them get oh so close, but fall at the last hurdle, making it all the more painful and entertaining at the same time. Hope it coincides with our salvation right at the eleventh hour.

A lot of comments remind me of the smug arrogance that barstewards fans had for us not too long ago, when they believed Walkers money would never run out.

Thats what Bolton fans said

Thats what every fan of every club bankrolled by a wealthy owner says till the owner either sells, gets bored or leaves

Then the debt becomes the football clubs, and I reckon Rovers debts are now so big that they'd have to qualify for the champions league for at least a decade before they ever got out of debt

Thats not to make a joke about our debts, which will be a problem, but we start off well ahead of them
