Re: Leeds v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessey - 5 got little to no assistance from those in front. Should be having a meltdown at the defence for the 2nd goal. Distribution iffy
Lowton -5
Tarks - 4 - first goal was always critical and he handed it to them. Lucky not to give away a penalty at the end. Way too casual for my liking
Mee 3 - worst I've seen him play in a long time. Looked sluggish and also like Tarkowski way too casual in possession.
Taylor - 8 - the only reliable defender and for that matter the only reliable attacker on the left (more on that shortly) Doing it all.
McNeil - 4 sloppy in possession
Westwood - 5 ball retention not good enough
Cork - 4. Can't play him in a 2 man midfield and maybe not also in a 3. We should have got younger in his position years ago. We didn't and that policy has now come back to bite us
JBG - 3. Enough already. Done. Absolute passenger. Gives Taylor no help either way. Hooked at HT and I'm surprised he lasted that long. Has to be dropped. Put a youth team player in if needs be - the output could not be worse.
Lennon - 5 - at least he put in a shift defensively but offered little the other way
Wood - 4 - at best he's getting into position to miss, but we cannot afford his profligacy when we create so little. Again, he won't be dropped but that says at least as much about the bench as it does about Wood.
Cornet - 6 - great goal but then went AWOL. Wasn't helped with a position switch.
Dyche - he changed it at HT (and credit for that) but it also tells you all you need to know about the first half selection/tactics.
We need to be worried. We're carrying players. The basics are not being done. The 2nd goal in particular should have Dyche and every Burnley fan absolutely raging - it's unacceptable. Looks like three from four. At the moment we don't look good enough for 4th bottom.

Re: Leeds v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessey 6 - better than Pope with feet but not comfortable claiming high balls
Lowton 4 - got a knock early on and never seem to cope with the pace of Leeds
Taylor 7 - only starter who can hold his head high
Mee 4 - was never going to be comfortable against speed merchants
Tarkowski 4 - far too casual today
Gudmundsson 4 - won a throw in
Cork 3 - been a great servant to the club, but my God that was abject
Westwood 4 - lost the ball and got caught on the ball nearly every time
McNeil 4 - confidence seems to be totally gone
Wood 4 - generally starved of any quality service but should have notched 1st half
Lennon 5 - actually worked hard but not effective in possession
Cornet 7 - a class act - but launching long balls to him isn't the answer
Why was Cornet moved to the left?
Why the hell wasn't Stephens brought on at half time?
We look and are playing like a relegated team.

Tarks performance the last two games (on top of the start of last season and behaviour when he was at Brentford) shows he can not be relied upon when there’s a chance of a move.

Dyche- 3 (if cornet is fit for the bench he is fit enough to start surely!! Also after the goal at 1-1 they were there for the taking, heaven forbid a positive change in a bid to try and win the game is made, instead wait until they score so we have to chase the game… rubbish)

Re: Leeds v Burnley - Player Ratings
Right let's have it right, that was, barring 10 minutes after we got back into it with Dyche then deciding on a formation change that killed all momentum, an absolute sh!tshow yet again. We are by far the worst team in the league, underpowered and absolutely clueless and useless in all departments. We have a management team where it appears the players seem to apparently are turning a blind eye now, too many players out of contract in the summer that don't appear now to be putting their bodies on the line anymore.
But the galling thing today is that any semblance of passing technique went out of the window. Watching ALL players in possession was like watching a cat dance across a hot tin roof such was our lack of composure throughout every single facet off every department in our team

A truely shocking performance in a must not lose.
People can bang the Dyche drum all they want but after 11 PL wins in 53 with the utter entertainment free clueless, aimless, without any shape of a semblance of a coherent plan as to how to move things forward he can leave for me

Tarkowski 3 what an incredible football player, we're so lucky to have him. Barcelona bound future England captain
Mee 3 out of position, caught sleeping on the ball, hoof into the channel and walking for the 3rd goal.
Taylor 8
JBG 3 I look forward to others marking him a 6+ today for his standard performance. This is a standard JBG performance, offered us nothing for 3 years but lets pretend he's brilliant.
Westwood 3 no idea what's going on with him, cant pass a football, allover the place positionally.
Cork 3 legs went along time ago, he's losing battles when it's 70/30 in his favour, like for the third goal.
Mcneil 4 not playing well, feel sorry him, surrounded by such crap, confidence completely gone out of him.
Wood 3 Remember when I said Wood offers nothing if he's not scoring, I was pelted on here from several posters, do we now see what I meant?
Lennon 3 you know you're shite and your recruitment has been awful when you're playing 37 year old Aaron Lennon at striker. An admittance from Dyche was that selection.

Re: Leeds v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessy- 6 - Those kicks are superb, but it was worrying how much we quickly started to rely on them. Should have done better with the first goal after his initial save he was too slow to react.
Lowton- 6 - Did his job today, although caught too far up the pitch on a couple of counter attacks.
Tarky- 5 - I like Tarks and he seemed up for it first half, saw him giving a few players a talking to, but that mistake was too costly and he seemed off it after that. Redeemed himself a bit second half, but was then caught for the 3rd.
Mee- 6 - A couple of very important headers won, but like the others, struggled with the ace and speed of the Leeds counter.
Taylor- 7 - A good game from Charlie, dealt with almost everything down his side and he was under a bit of pressure, but did well overall.
McNeil- 5 - Sloppy as I have ever seen him. Really struggled today, had a spell when the team was doing well at the start of the second half, but then went back to struggling.
Cork- 5 - Overpowered and justs wants a second or two longer on the ball than Leeds would allow, meaning he was caught in possession a few times.
Westwood- 4 - Poor today, his short passing was again really poor, he wasn't breaking up play and was second to everything in midfield all game.
JBG- 4 - Offered almost nothing of note.
Lennon- 4 - It didn't work today, he put the effort in, but it didn't happen for him.
Wood- 6 Although he missed two chances first half, at least he got into those positions today and he won more than his fair share of headers, it was the team failing to win any second balls virtually all game that didn't help.
Cornet 7 - That freekick was sublime and he looked a threat until he was moved out wide, at which point he faded out of the game a bit.

Re: Leeds v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessy 5 - Ok but over the two games doesn’t seem to have quite the reflexes and assurance of Pope. Not at fault for any of goals but would Popey poss have saved the rebound on the first, and got more on the third? A better kicker of the ball though.
Lowton- 5 Started off well. Wonder if the knock to him in the first half impacted his game?
Tarkowski- 4 Looked a yard off the pace and second to every ball. What the hell was he doing for the first goal? Not only did he cock his pass up but he backed off his man and his positioning as he did so looked all wrong and allowed his opponent too much space.
Mee- 6 Not at his best
Taylor - 7 Kept going and looked up for it against his old club
McNeil- 6 Tried to make things happen but misplaced passes and looked even more one footed than he usually does when he was on the wrong side of the pitch. Just seemed to spin around in circles on his right foot!
Westwood 5 Huffed and puffed but not his day.
Cork- 4 Got bullied by a more physical and determined Leeds midfield.
Gudmundsson- 4 I honestly didn’t notice he was on the pitch until towards the end of the first half. I feel as though he needed a run in the side and now he’s had one, and have to conclude he’s not the same player as before his injury. That’s a tragedy for him. He ALWAYS cuts inside when he gets the ball, but yesterday he didn’t even get the ball.
Lennon- 6 Not his day but still showed more energy and fight than others.
Wood- 3 What has happened to him? He has always looked a confidence player and poor when he’s off form but he’s been poor all season. Largely immobile and not even winning headers which makes our long ball tactic even less effective.
Cornet- 7. He comes on and scores another great goal which we should have built on. What else is he supposed to do? Looked less effective when put on the wing, but he’d only been back training a couple of days. Football is all about moments and he took his.
We’ve performed miracles over the years but that was a depressing performance, no doubt. Looking at it rationally, we’re still not nailed on to go down, but that was a body blow, no doubt. I thought we were unlucky at Old Trafford, poor yesterday. We can’t say it’s unlike us to concede soft goals, but then make mistakes at the back every week. And we need to get back to being driven, determined, and first to every 50-50 ball.

Lowton 5 - If Roberts can't get in now, he never will.
Tarkowski 3 - Selling him to Newcastle could be a win/win for us.
Mee 5
Taylor 7 - Really good.
McNeil 4
Westwood 4 - Him and Cork could play for Morecambe and I'm not sure they'd stand out.
Cork 4
JBG 3 - I could have done whatever it was the Iceman did. Sad to watch.
Lennon 4
Wood 3 - Still jet lagged, three months on.
Cornet 6 - Must honestly wonder what the hell he's doing. Lovely positive chap though, and gave us one moment to saviour.
Just looked old, weak and slow all over the pitch. Start planning for the Championship now and just try and play for pride in remaining fixtures. We're gone.
Positives: The tip off here to park at Cross Flatts, free parking and 5 mins from ground. Cheers to whoever that was.

To be honest, it was a bit of an over reaction to a dreadful performance and given time to think I'd potentially have scored Taylor, Lennon & Wood higher than I did.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:20 pmI was not at the game, and each week I take CT's player ratings as a yardstick.
