If every player at every club in the premier league tried the maximum possible in every game played, at the end of the season 3 clubs would still be relegated. Being in the bottom 3 after 17 games is not proof that players are not trying.
You're right of course. What we have seen on the pitch for the last 3 games is proof of that.

SD himself used the phrase that this isn’t ‘a forever story’
and perhaps the time to part has come. What he has done for our football club is beyond my wildest dreams. At 40yrs old I never thought I’d be able to say I’d seen my team play in the premier league (and more than 1 season to boot) and play in Europe. However all things do come to an end. In most walks of life at times people lose motivation, get disillusioned, lose focus, stop listening to the same voices, fall into certain habits, become narrow thinkers. It’s not necessarily any one persons fault but this pattern/downward spiral needs to be broken and if that’s SD leaving then so be it.

But that applies to most if not all PL players doesn't it, yet they all seem to have the inner motivation to continue competing at the top level.
This of course is correct.
I would suggest that giving long contracts to players in their thirties has a lot to do with what appears to be complacency.

Same with Dyche. He's a multi millionaire now and got a bit of fame. He probably knows deep down his hopes of a bigger job are gone. Does he still have the same hunger/drive to better himself?

Yes and the one silver lining is we can offload a lot of those high earners come the summer, and that's exactly what we need to do, no more loyalty to guys who are good in the dressing room, Sean has to show his ruthless streak if we want to mount a genuine promotion challenge next season.

And if that calls for a new broom then so be it, this present squad won't get us up, they're too old and too stale now.

As regards the manager I'm ambivalent as too whether he stays or goes anymore, I can see arguments for both sides, but if he stays, which I suspect he will, then we need at the bare minimum to be in the play off places by the turn of the year.

It's worth recalling we were sat in 8th when Laws was fired, so that's the benchmark for me.

The brutal truth is nobody else has ever wanted him it might not be the thing people like to hear whilst he’s been with us even on a crest of a high nobody’s come forward with a solid approach to get him. If a bigger club ever really really wanted him we wouldn’t be able to stop that but it’s never happened, BFC are probably the only club who have ever wanted him enough.

truth is if SD left Burnley the only way he would ever manage in the PL again is to take a lowr league club up into the PL..

SD was right for BFC when he joined and has done wonders at this club but it appears he is devoid of ideas, the game has moved on and he hasn't, he has spent wisely and built a squad that now needs refreshing, has he got the hunger to start again and will funds be made available to rebuild probably in the Championship

or do we refresh the management team, there are a lot of good. lower league managers out there that we could give the opportunity to and bring in new ideas,

there are risks if we stick or twist, i personally want to see fresh ideas on and off the pitch so I woukd twist but that is just my personal thought others will have their own opinions

That sounds correct, the only thing niggling me about that is how his contract got bumped up soo much. Maybe there was interest and we nullified it with that one.

There has definitely been interest in Dyche from outside. It is blatantly obvious. We are one of, probably, a few if any clubs in the league where the manager is the highest paid person at the club. That tells me there has definitely been interest from elsewhere and that he is the most important person, by far, at the club.

To bring this topic back to the original question, I'd give Dyche a chance to mount a promotion challenge from the Championship, he's shown he knows what it takes at that level, and he deserves another season to see if he can turn our fortunes around, but he shouldn't be given unlimited time, and no manager should ever feel totally secure in their jobs, as that creates complacency and they undoubtedly lose that vital edge that makes a huge difference at the higher levels.

I'd give him this transfer window and the summer one and see what he and the board can do.
The summer one is going be very interesting with a major re build required.

When the contract was getting negotiated Sean’s stock was pretty high & what’s happened so far wasn’t really anticipated I knew we would struggle this season but I thought we would put up more a fight than we have done, if you look back at the contract thread i forewarned what could possibly happen & if that did happen how it would become very costly & difficult to part, he might still turn it around & I could be proved wrong I hope I am but with every passing defeat it doesn’t look like I will be.
