Sounds like you were there and one of the lucky ones CT. I was simply part of the huge TV audience, but a mate of mine from Rawtenstall got a ticket and went and said it was the experience of a lifetime, although when he'd first bought the ticket he wasn't even sure what the event really was or if it would be any good. If memory serves me correctly, tickets were originally freely available and easy to get before the publicity suddenly took off and it was only in the last week or final few days that people realised it was probably going to be something extremely special. At which point tickets became as sought after as gold dust.
I was there and had no idea what it was going to be like to be honest. A friend of mine was sent by his wife to somewhere in Preston to queue overnight for tickets when they went on sale and we got some. Incredible day from the minute Status Quo opened it. Some brilliant performances, some not so good but that didn't really matter.

Sorry - meant to attach link. There are a few versions - this, IMHO, is the best.

I was at a record fair yesterday and managed to pick up a vinyl first pressing of Station to Station.
Not that common and probably Bowies next best album after Ziggy and Hunky Dory.

Some time ago there was a poll of real fans and the winner was; Wild is the wind. Which was the correct answer.

I want to know how people went to get a drink, or a toilet break . from the telly, it looked absolutely rammed.
not only that, but how long were fans in the stadium in that heat ?
Iconic event for those who attended.

Fantastic body of work behind him but Life On Mars is my stand out.
