Who'll Score More Goals???
So who do the UTC's posters think will score the most goals from now until the end of the season between Chris Wood and Wout Weghorst?
Chris Wood has been woefully out of sorts this season but he's a proven Premier League goal scorer and playing for a Eddie Howe team is likely to get a lot more chances
Wout Weghorst on the other hand has a fantastic goal scoring record and to do it in the Bundesliga he obviously has some talent. That said he's unproven in the best football league in the world and unless Mr Pace pulls off some last minute deals he is going to be faced with the same problem Wood has faced in terms of lack of service
I think it will be close but against all the odds I reckon Wout will just pip Wood by the odd goal or two however I dont expect either to make the impact both sets of respective fans are probably hoping for

Very true and I also think unless he gets scoring soon he'll soon find himself in Hendricks favourite position warming their bench

Re: Who'll Score More Goals???
Wood has gone backwards as a player, not to mention he won’t be starting much if they sign Ekitike - especially when Wilson is fit in a month.

Weghorst, easily imo

Re: Who'll Score More Goals???
Some on here seem to be forgetting Cornet. until he was injured and absent for a few weeks he seemed to not only be scoring a goal a game , but also creating chances. Nothing is certain in this football world , but if we play football like we have done in many games with an upgrade on Chris Wood who can take chances like Cornet , I thnk we have a good chance of clmbing out of trouble. Just the one win on Saturday aginst Watford would get us in a good position to compete with those just above us.

Re: Who'll Score More Goals???
Wood always a streaky player. His goals come in gluts. Those who think he has gone backwards may rue that if he goes on one of his streaks.
Who is the better player, probably WW - looks technically better, links up play better. Who is more effective in the current Burnley team / Premier league? Wood holds all the cards at the moment, as he is proven at this level, and in this team.
So what are you backing? Potential, or proven?
The more exciting / risky bet is definitely potential, the more prudent bet is definitely proven capabilities.

If you think Wood has only been "Ok" then It's likely your horizon's that are wrong. Strikers who score double figures in multiple consecutive seasons in the premier league are in fairly short supply. Wood was one of them. And his goals often came in streaks, that is surely beyond dispute?

The whole team should, as good players who offer more to the team than goals should also enable others to shine. Looking forward to seeing some decent link up play. Last time we saw that was with Vings.

Re: Who'll Score More Goals???
Wood only got to 1 in 2 ratio for Leeds at Championship level and has been roughly 1 in 3 since. Wout has had a 1 in 2 ratio for the last 6 years consistently at Eredivisie and latterly Bundesliga levels. I would suggest that Eredivisie is at Championship level or thereabouts with the Bundesliga somewhere between the Championship and Premier league. Hard to judge but to have a consistent 6 seasons of 1 in 2 is excellent at those levels and I would suggest he appears to be a tad more consistent than Wood. He is unproven at Prem level but based on this he is hopefully gonna be at roughly 1 in 2.5 at Prem level. He should score 8 goals by the end of the season hopefully.

Re: Who'll Score More Goals???
I'm with Dan on this. Wout looks better all round and more mobile. He looks to have the right stuff but it's potential until he delivers.
Wood has proven he can score and its true he scored in streaks. The question is whether he goes on a streak or whether he has actually peaked and we got the 25m at the perfect time.
Got to be positive and say Wout

Re: Who'll Score More Goals???
I liked Chris Wood, and thought he was a good player for us. But his form this season has been pretty poor. Started missing a few big chances he'd normally score as well. Tbh apart from Cornet, all of our strikers have been poor this season

Re: Who'll Score More Goals???
Sadly it looks like my prediction that neither player will make the impact that both sets of fans hoped for will come true but they are still neck and neck at one goal apiece with it all to play for.
I am going to stick with my original prediction of Wout just edging it by the odd goal, but with both players hitting double figures in terms of games played who do you think will be crowned king of the goal shy strikers come the end of the season?

Re: Who'll Score More Goals???
Chris Wood should be scoring more than Wout because he is getting more chances. We need to play to Wouts strengths more but it is clear to see he is far superior to Wood.

Wood playing for NZ was a big problem for him and us ( and now Newcastle).
