While tidying my loft recently I came across a piece in The Observer magazine (19th August 1973). It was about the club's return to Division 1
after the successful 1972/73 season. I have attached scans of the article with apologies that some of the wording is missing in places.

Just thinking back and the 19th August would have been a Sunday, the day after we beat City and their all-stars at Maine Rd. 0-1 in the Charity Shield with one of the best free kick routines I've ever seen. It truly was a magical time to be a Claret and the following Saturday at Bramall Lane just underlined it.
