And suddenly there was freedom
Now one win does not a season make, but there certainly was more joy about that performance.
Roberts and Collins comments after the match were telling.
Of course it might all come to naught
But it is good to see a more open approach.

Don’t recall Collins saying anything telling but Connor Roberts certainly did. The performance was a lot better than we’ve seen this season though.

Re: And suddenly there was freedom
Collins commented that everybody was enjoying their football, something which hasn’t been apparent recently.
Of course freedom doesn’t equate to success, we will now be more open, but in my opinion it is the only way we are going to avoid relegation

Re: And suddenly there was freedom
The freedom they've been given is there for all to see, playing to feet instead of hoofing it also, this improves everyone's game especially for McNeil and Weghorst, I love Dyche for the memories he's given me but unfortunately for almost the past two season's it's been painful to watch us, it's a shame Dyche never changed his rigid ways and kept the job he had incredibly done previously, but let's look forward to the impossible dream of somehow staying up, Mr Pace don't rock the boat at the moment leave Mike Jackson and Ben Mee in place until the end of the season and then start a rebuilding job of our club with new players and management staff whatever league we are in

Re: And suddenly there was freedom
Getting the early goal really helped. Until that point we looked nervous and had gifted them a couple of decent chances- it was looking like Norwich mk2.
Goals change games and it lifted the lads - we spurred on and Southampton didn't have an answer really until the second half.
Great result and a very good performance

You’re right Babylon but when we’d got goals early in recent times we were more likely to try and hold on than go full throttle at the opposition.

Re: And suddenly there was freedom
That's not true. We didn't take chances (except at Brighton and Brentford who we battered) and as the team tired other teams came back at us. But it's interesting that in the games that we have had to get a result we've needed to score first to get the resultclaretandbluesky wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 9:11 amYou’re right Babylon but when we’d got goals early in recent times we were more likely to try and hold on than go full throttle at the opposition.

I was saying the same to my son, even with ten minutes to go we went looking for a 3rd, it was refreshing to watch.claretandbluesky wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 9:11 amYou’re right Babylon but when we’d got goals early in recent times we were more likely to try and hold on than go full throttle at the opposition.

That's true. But we were saying that we wanted that to make sure (shows how nervy we are as fans) but decent game management too to bring on Lowton

Re: And suddenly there was freedom
The freedom I noticed was the freedom in Dwight to smile which he did constantly. We speculate if Woan or Stone was on his back constantly, particularly given how bad we have been defensively down our left, but the body language is very telling.
I’m not going to believe until after Wolves who are a top away side, also Villa are flakey they could hammer us on their day. So one swallow doesn’t make a summer but the freedom does give us some hope.

One swallow doesn't make spring, but fingers crossed.
