Re: Ooooh George Oghani
It's okay, no one was watching it anyway.
Re: Ooooh George Oghani
Recorded it and watched last night and it WAS George Oghani !!!!! And no ironing board in sight
Re: Ooooh George Oghani
Did he allegedly steal that from Taskers on Plumbe Street?

Re: Ooooh George Oghani
I think it was somewhere in Manchester. He had paid for the ironing board but was caught stealing a bag of screws and smacked the security guard with the ironing board.
Sacked by us after a training ground incident involving Chris Pearce.
Then around six years ago he was unimpressed with a linesman’s decision while watching his son play. So he head butted the linesman.

It was so funny looking at the puzzled other teams fans faces when we all stated chanting “ironing board ironing board etc”.

Re: Ooooh George Oghani
I once spent an afternoon in Burnley library trying to research what had happened.
Oghani gets dropped from the starting 11 after the incident but the club keep a lid on it and the local papers seem to be loyal to the club in either not reporting the incident or downplaying it.
I'd like to try and look up the Manchester Evening News (or similar) archives to see it made the local news there.

Re: Ooooh George Oghani
It was Longsight Asda. I was a student in that locale at the time, so kept a close eye on proceedings.
He came in the launderette on Claremont Road once whilst I was in, shortly after the ironing board incident. I noticed he chose the long cycle on the dryer - the one that takes the creases out.
Re: Ooooh George Oghani
I remember a match at Bolton where they kept throwing bananas at him. He picked one up and started eating it. Imagine that happening now.

Granville Shackleton (Burnley Express) travelled on our coach to Grimsby and told us Pearce & Oghani were out and that Oghani wouldn’t play for us again. He wouldn’t say why.Rowls wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 3:04 pmI once spent an afternoon in Burnley library trying to research what had happened.

Admirable in one sense but one doubts such a tight lid could or would be put on events if similar happened nowadays.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 3:28 pmGranville Shackleton (Burnley Express) travelled on our coach to Grimsby and told us Pearce & Oghani were out and that Oghani wouldn’t play for us again. Don’t know about that but there was some contact with Pearce’s jaw according to reports.

Re: Ooooh George Oghani
He was a much better footballer than fourth Division standard. My assumption was the ‘nutter’ aspect kept him from playing higher.
I have this memory of driving back down the M65 after a pre season game at Blackpool, and a car comes screaming past at about 100 mph, with George Oghani literally hanging out of the open window.

Think I was on that coach, double decker, someone spewed up on the way there. David Jones played up front, the worst I've ever seen.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 3:28 pmGranville Shackleton (Burnley Express) travelled on our coach to Grimsby and told us Pearce & Oghani were out and that Oghani wouldn’t play for us again. My brother went to Polytechnic with a lad who played for the Clarets 86-89'ish , he had some interesting stories that tie in with some of the rumours on the coach that day. If he was out injured , don't leave your valuables in the changing rooms.
About 15 years ago a former colleague used to,play 5a side with Oghani, when I found out I dug out my Wembley 88 shirt and he got George to sign it . A much treasured possession.

Surprised he was allowed on a cash quiz show with a criminal record. Usually they vet them and don't entertain them.
