That's from 2017 with him arriving for a match against West Ham. On the sun's website.

Thanks for that, he well and truly did me.

Just hoping he does become our manager as I will have lost my bet.

Why would it take so long for Burnley to get a work permit, when Man U announced Hag the day after he resigned at his old club.

they probably applied 2 months earlier. VISA's and WP can take 2-3 months

To get a work permit for Burnley you've to complete the Haffners and Black Pudding fried in bacon fat taste test.

Even 'Seany Long Time' had to go through it.

what i am gathering from reading this abhorrent thread, is that no one, even the admin of this site as a clue what's going on with VK and everyone including the admin is just embarrassingly pretending they do know.
Actually everyone including the admin have admitted they don’t really know what is going on or what the delay is if there actually is one, although still expect it to go through.

The “work permit” is just an excuse being used by many on here for the hold up. As each day passes by it is more unlikely that VK will become our next manager. If it was just the work permit, surely the club would have announced that VK has agreed in principle to become our manager, however we are just waiting now for his work permit?

Anyone think the delay is related to the recent Ben Mee news? Perhaps Kompany didn’t want Ben… let’s face it, Ben could be seen by Kompany as a disruptive influence over some of the existing players… not that I think he would though

I think it’s more likely VK is holding off signing until he knows exactly what he is walking into.

I think I agree. Man U would not have applied for a work permit 2 months before he left his old role because they would have been rejected. He had to actually be coming and have signed a contract for them to be able to apply.

Right now, it looks like he’s walking into the perfect **** storm.

I’ve said before that I think bringing in someone like Kompany is a gamble, when promotion appears to be so important.

By the same token, it’s a bloody big gamble for someone with aspirations of a successful managerial career.

I agree, that’s why I think he’s holding off until he knows exactly how big the job is. This will definitely have had an effect on VK, regardless of his intended on starting him etc… he’s an experienced pro that knows the league that would have been invaluable to VK.

I’m not sure on that - I’d have thought that he’d have been well aware, quite some time ago, of the likelihood of players leaving. Presumably which ones, too.

Potentially, I assume that a lot of these discussions only happened with the players in the last week or so following relegation. I imagine the club wanted to know what league we were in prior to making a decision.

I think VK could very well be waiting for them player negations to be concluded before committing.

Like Al said when he first arrived - ‘why buy players when you can promote from youth?’

The same principle applies here - why have a manager when you can promote from within?

Hopefully the club announce the manager very soon, if nothing it will stop the panic about Ben Mee leaving along with others . The negativity around us needs to come to a grinding halt quickly

And this is why I find it hard to believe the VK deal is just at the final work permit stage. If it was, they could announce it ‘subject to work permit approval’ - which is a formality. Like you said, the club really needs a bit of positivity now and if it was at that stage, I’m sure it would be out there.

It's been obvious for a week.

I think the panic is just a dreadful case of people being terminally online. They'll announce it once it's confirmed, and it won't be getting confirmed while the people responsible for work permits are off work.

Okay so you don't know, you're just going off what you've seen in reports.

That's fine, I've seen the Nixon stuff too and he's sure it's at that stage/

But just to repeat, Conte, Ten Hag and Rangnick, three overseas appointments this season, were announced BEFORE work permits were accepted.

Work permits being accepted as seen as a formality now. With the club in a position where some positivity would be nice, if it was at the same stage as the aforementioned managers / announcements, why would it not already be out there?

Man United and Spurs are massive PR operations and Burnley are poorly run. It'd be nice if we could be compared to that sort of club but reality isn't working out that way.

Kompany is the new manager, you can spend the next few days worrying about it but the truth is in a month's time this will all be forgotten. It's even likely some of the people fretting now will be defending the owners against allegations of poor communication.

Not sure why you're obsessing over what over clubs have done. Just because our board have (rightly or wrongly) taken a different approach there's no need to not expect the same outcome.

All I’m suggesting is that it seems a bit counter intuitive. CT added yesterday he’d heard some ‘less so’ positive news following the previous days positive news. What could be negative if it’s at a stage of simply approving work permits?

Why? Everything about Manchester United has been rancid for years now. Why would we announce a manager before his work permit was granted (if indeed that was the hold up) just because they did?

It’d be nice to know who is getting the job, but I don’t see why the club should have to announce something that could potentially go wrong.

But it's not only not updating us re the recruitment of a new manager is it?
Communication from the club to the supporters re anything is virtually non existent

It’s not great. But it doesn’t help that there’s nothing really to communicate.

There's nothing to say so the club aren't saying anything.

Simple really.

I mean, it would be a hell of a lot better if the club announced he was joining pending a work permit. It's just not worth getting wound up because the club is choosing poor communication.

Well at least we know that by applying for a work permit VK has been offered and accepted the job otherwise a work permit would never be granted.

Do we know that they have applied for a work permit? I have heard a welter of rumours, but I wouldn't say I know anything. (About this subject, obviously. I know a bit about other stuff - the capital of France, the wives of Henry VIII, and such like. ;) )
