Haaland joins City
And I for one look forward to seeing him play against the clarets in the FA Cup third round tie next season.
City paid £51m for arguably the best striker in world football. They could have had 2 Chris Woods for that!

Re: Haaland joins City
We'll see over the next few months, but in terms of how they play football along with Premier League football being suited to certain styles, I think Liverpool have got the better player in Nunez.
Re: Haaland joins City
didn't see that one coming...

Re: Haaland joins City
he'll score loads next season. Great player
Re: Haaland joins City
£51m. Rising to £85m with all the fees etc. That’s cheap when you consider what they paid for Grealish, although I understand it was the release clause.

The city fans must be hoping pep can do something with him….. he’ll need some coaching for sure but I reckon pep can make something of him an I predict goals for this lad.

Re: Haaland joins City
everybody else will be looking to finish 3rd with the strength of City and Liverpool
Re: Haaland joins City
I actually think Conte will get Spurs up there. Looks like he’s got a decent pot to spend from this summer. He usually has one incredible season then leaves.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:13 pmeverybody else will be looking to finish 3rd with the strength of City and Liverpool

We used to laugh at the Scottish league only having two teams that could win it…
Manchester City - historically Manchester’s Protestant club, and Liverpool historically that cities Catholic club…
Welcome to Scotland folks.

Re: Haaland joins City
I can't say I know much about Nunez but City have got the 2nd best CF in the world for me, behind Lewondoski.claretburns wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 11:51 amWe'll see over the next few months, but in terms of how they play football along with Premier League football being suited to certain styles, I think Liverpool have got the better player in Nunez.
If he gets 10 of his power goals, he will end up with 35 with the amount of tap ins City give you.
Losing Mane will be massive to Liverpool, Nunez has some big shoes to fill.
Re: Haaland joins City
As Haaland is from Leeds you can already predict LU chants when they play each other.

Re: Haaland joins City
The PL more likely the bundesliga than the Scotchprem. Its a one team league. City will win it every year for the foreseeable. Only Liverpool going at full throttle and them City having a slightly off season prevented them getting what is it, 6 in a row?
They will win it again next season, Liverpool likely 2nd and any perm of spurs, arsenal, chelsea completing the top 4. Boring as ****.

Not sure if City have sorted their pre season but if they haven’t there could be a decent chance we’ll play them.

This has been rumbling on since before the season ended and City have only just got it over the line. Absolute PR disaster from City.

Re: Haaland joins City
I guess the big question is how does PG fit all these stars into an effective system, and will Haaland operate as a traditional CF, given the way Pep sets his sides up to be fluid and interchange an awful lot, Haaland may not find it easy to settle in Manchester, look at Grealish for example, who by his Villa standards had a fairly average campaign.
Re: Haaland joins City
With Haaland it's an obvious one. They'll set up with Haaland in the middle, sandwiched between the likes of Sterling/Grealish/Foden.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 1:56 pmI guess the big question is how does PG fit all these stars into an effective system, and will Haaland operate as a traditional CF, given the way Pep sets his sides up to be fluid and interchange an awful lot, Haaland may not find it easy to settle in Manchester, look at Grealish for example, who by his Villa standards had a fairly average campaign.

I can't wait to watch the Best Coach In The World(TM) turn this lad into a goal scorer.

Re: Haaland joins City
Wout scored goals in Germany. Haaland hasn’t done anything yet. Not saying he won’t but scoring loads in the Bundesliga means nothing. The prem is a much more difficult league.

Re: Haaland joins City
Haaland is a ridiculous player, you only have to look at his goal yesterday to see how explosive his power is. If he plays the games he will walk the golden boot in that City teamclaretburns wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 11:51 amWe'll see over the next few months, but in terms of how they play football along with Premier League football being suited to certain styles, I think Liverpool have got the better player in Nunez.

It'll be interesting how he compares to Kane.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 3:13 pmHaaland is a ridiculous player, you only have to look at his goal yesterday to see how explosive his power is. If he plays the games he will walk the golden boot in that City team

Re: Haaland joins City
Kane scored 13 from open play in 37 premier league games - Haaland will get double that if he stays fit easily.

Very positive, the more players City sign, the better chance VK has of getting a few loans

I fear for the young boys, who come through very early. They tend to get crocked early, in the prem.

That's a good point about penalties. If City have a weakness it's being useless at pens.Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 3:32 pmKane scored 13 from open play in 37 premier league games - Haaland will get double that if he stays fit easily.
If Haaland can score from the spot that will mean it's over before it started.

I for one do not look forward to watching City. Together with PSG (and Newcastle) the prime examples of how football has lost its roots

With us no longer in the Premier League, I feel the exact opposite. I'm loving the games coming up.Belgianclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 4:41 pmI for one do not look forward to watching City. Together with PSG (and Newcastle) the prime examples of how football has lost its roots
Re: Haaland joins City
And looking at the transfer figures involved I'm also not too fussed about us being in their league. In fact its a credit to Dyche and team that we stayed and annoyed the so called elite for as long as we did. In fact I can understand perhaps why Mike Garlic kept his wallet shut. He must have known that the money available to these oil soaked clubs would grow and grow and we would be well out of our depth.

City might see a season on loan at Turf Moor in the Championship as a good way to ease Haaland into the rigours of English football? Works for me

Wonder if 'Pep' will transform Haaland's career in the same way he has done with Gabriel Jesus?
