A convenient flat (for occasional use) makes sense to me. I know Hale is not a million miles away, but it still makes sense to have a place to lay your head, locally. For example I have been applying for Universities that allow me to be based at home… but I have still been looking to make sure there are overnight stays available, should it be required to make fulfilling, so far unforeseen commitments that may occur, easier.

I didn't live "up here" at that point, but I think it's still a slight slog of a journey, and traffic can be hit and miss on the major roads. I'm sure Kompany could draw money out of his back pocket to pay for a weekday house, even if he doesn't use it.

Aye it's bobbins the traffic. I live about 2 miles away from Hale Barns, and in the morning heading up the M56 towards the M60 is a nightmare until you get past the M61 junction, then generally a breeze from there. Getting to that junction though can take longer than the rest of the journey to Burnley/Padiham.

If I drive into town in the morning, it's about 50 minutes for a 9 mile journey. Quicker getting the Met, and you have the added bonus of being able to have a pint after work should you so wish.
