Just got a feel of jobs for the boys
Dyche
Howe
Laws
Coyle
Cotterill
Ternent
Waddle

To name the previous seven managers, all brought in their own people.

So this is no different and what I’d expect. We needed to at least replace Woan, Stone & Mercer.

If the new GK coach is half as successful as Billy Mercer then he’ll have done a fine job.

Things are starting to take shape very nicely. With Twine now in the team, and a set piece coach, I feel confident this will be a more productive part of our game, although until recent our corner delivery was very good. Direct free kicks should improve. Other than Cornet's goal from a free kick you need to go back to De Four v United, and Brady v Chelsea shortly after he joined. Then look at the goals Ward Prowse scores per season and equate that to points
Set piece coaches won’t be teaching players how to take direct free kicks. Corners, edge of the box free kicks, deep free kicks etc that’s the job.

How else do you get contacts in the game?

By trusting those who you are closest to.

Nobody questioned Dyche’s decision to bring in Wigan and Loughlan…..
Which is why I pointed out I wasnt sure I agreed...

What has happened to Mike Jackson, Paul Jenkins and Conor King? Have they gone back to their original roles?

You aren't on your own, no matter how much the vultures on here are trying to peck your eyes out.

I had a deep dislike for that fella when I saw him on the field, and he's been a bit nasty off it.

But he hasn't raped or killed anyone, so he'll get a chance.

I watched a bit of the anderlecht documentary and he was in tears on that explaining his reasons for his departure. I must admit, he’s the type of player that if he’s on your side you love him, if he’s against you then you hate him. I certainly did not like him as a player, a bit like Barnes for us. That said, when he explained that he had an 18 month old daughter who didn’t know him, that humanity poured through having a girl the same age myself, and having the maturity to stand infront of all those professionals, and admit that he was having issues made me look at him in a totally different way. The guy is now a claret. And I expect him welcomed into our family with open arms.

Wonder if we’ll see a few more flashpoints in the dugout.

No backward at coming forward. Maybe he’ll come up against Woan at some point.

MJ went back to his previous role, I'm guessing the others did too.

I disliked him intensely as a player. Behaviour like his attack on Jon Arne Riise was reprehensible. Let’s hope he keeps his behaviour in check with us.

Several years as a player and making great grounding as a coach since that but let’s all judge him on something that happened in 2007. Brilliant.

I have no issue with who or what he was as a player. He did a job and did it well. He's well thought of and like others have said, he showed some balls to face his demons as he did.

I'm sure he's back to his best and if he can get under the skin of a few of our opponents from the side lines as he did as a player, it might just win us a few extra points.

Welcome Craig and good luck!!!! I'm definitely 100% behind you

Well you don't really need one if all you do is either stick it just under the crossbar (corners) or lob it towards the penalty area and try to win the 2nd ball (free kicks).
The only surprise is how often it worked.
I think they might perhaps practise defending free kicks and corners, as well as attacking them.

In 2014 I’d have filed Bellamy under the same category as Barton - a thug who I wouldn’t want anywhere near the club

I’m happy to be proved wrong twice

Good to finally get Kompany's backroom team confirmed, at least it will end the speculation on this forum.

Bellamy has battled his demons and is hopefully over the worst now.

And a set piece coach is long overdue.

I suppose we had all this when Joey arrived seven years ago - how quickly he changed people's opinions.

And for what it's worth, I think we said goodbye to someone last April at the same time as Sean Dyche left who in my view, we are definitely better without at Turf Moor.

As far as I'm concerned, Bellamy, like everyone else who walks through the door, starts with a clean sheet.

Good luck to him, hope he's a huge success as I do VK and everyone else coming in.

I've wondered about this one. After that fuss - with the u23s was it - I was surprised when the promotion to the senior squad happened. And the 'vibe' among the squad did seem to deteriorate a bit from that point, in that it's the first time we started getting rumours about rifts and discontent. All guesswork and could be nothing but I wasn't disappointed when he left too.

Pretty much this but both always looked very good players and particularly against us. I remember watching Bellamy against us for Man City wishing we had a player as good.

I can't recall any rumours about bullying while he was coaching in Belgium. Is there a link to this?

He was investigated at Cardiff for which he apologised but didn't receive any disciplinary action.

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/foo ... y-17152528
Perhaps when he left Alct, the previous bullying had been cited in the article ?so I stand corrected ( possibly ) . Though a quick google shows various drink drive bans etc if any more mud is needed to chuck . Regardless , he’s here now and not unlike Barton ( who has quite the rap sheet)who had plenty of issues in a long career has shown you can turn things around . I’d sooner have some raw passion than a yes man and VK trusts him so good by me .

All I know about him was the way he behaved on the touchline at under-23 games - his behaviour was a disgrace.

Just wondering Tony, was it his attitude towards players, officials, fans, members of the opposition ect? Everyone seems to skirt round the issue and details can become a bit unclear

Players really, never any reaction with spectators. Language appalling at times and then there was the game against Middlesbrough when his behaviour towards the match officials was embarrassing. That was the last time I ever saw him in the dug out. Soon after he was suspended and when he did return we were playing behind closed doors.

I always thought S Stones promotion to first team coaching staff was a strange appointment particularly as SD was very particular about signing players with the right attitude etc. Especially so after the allegations of bullying. Perhaps this was a poor move by Dyche which contributed to our eventual relegation.

Sherry has a point about about jobs for the boys.

We got lucky with Dyche having never met Woan, Loughlan, Stone etc and hitting off like they did.

They way they interacted and worked so well together anyone would think they’d known each other for years.

Having Bellamy in such a key position is one of the biggest challenges for the club next season.
In my opinion it is a case of holding your breath and hoping it works to the benefit of the team.

Yes I can see the link as Barton had a very good relationship with Dyche so there is that similarity. Respect is a big thing.
Id be kidding myself if I didn't admit the gobshite that Bellamy was in his playing days is why I'm uneasy with his appointment.

You just have to trust VK on this I think. Having the career he has had as a leader in a top team I doubt he suffers fools.

Also given his profile here and at home he could probs have attracted a whole host of names to fill that role, and given he can’t afford to fail this job we have to assume he knows what he’s doing.

Presume from the description he means Jimmy Holland… he was club physio, rather than ‘bucketman’ but the running and description of a match day fits.

Billy Dougall was physio but never did the job on match day in my time. It was Ray Bennion, George Bray and then Brian Miller. When Miller became manager in 1979, Jimmy Holland, who had replaced Dougall as physio, started doing it.
