Could well be an insurance thing, injured under our watch therefore we are liable for his treatment?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He's out of contract
Do we have to pay him now because he's injured? (genuine question because I've never, ever heard of this applying in this case)
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I would like Vydra to sign an extension though.

Insurance covers his pay for 18 months or something like that.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 11:58 amHe's out of contract

Have to cover his wages and provide treatment until recovered tho it will be covered by the clubs insurance.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 11:58 amHe's out of contract

Also he stated in an interview he wasn't sure if he was going to accept the clubs help and that he may go alone which in that case I'm not sure if the payments from the club stop as he's refused the help.
He isn't signing another contract tho or he would of by now with being injured.
Time for us to move on.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I just wonder whether in a case such as Vydra, the club makes an insurance claim and so wages (or part wages) are covered via this during rehab. Therefore if a contract actually expires during that period, insurance just keeps on covering it anyway and it's in the interest of both parties to do nothing and make no major decisions regarding the future until the player gets fit. Us offering a new contract during that period may well be about us wanting to be in a position to recoup some transfer money on him if he decides to leave once fit.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I’m still hopeful there'll be another potential Andre Gray type of player in the lower leagues. I really think that’s what we will need with our new current signings. Let’s hope our staff can find one.

Jay and Ashley should be starting the season as third and fourth choice strikers if we’ve got any ambitions of promotion

Forgot about him, and yes I also hope we aren't relying on him to maintain his fitness over the course of a long arduous Championship season.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 10:55 amAgree. And you can add JBG to that list. Can't see any takers for any of them.

I don't suppose this really matters if the insurance company are footing the bill, but I wonder if he's now paid at his reduced championship wage or if they maintain his premier league wage?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Am I mistaken or did the OP request no financial discussion on this thread? That applies to Vydra’s contract and insurance I would think.
Hard to trawl through quickly due to all the other chat but it seems we have Cullen close (excellent), a stalemate on the City keeper and no news of an attacker (which I take to mean we are trying to offload Cornet but unless we get £17.5m we will use him instead)?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Well, we felt we had Muleka done at a cost of (I think) £3.5m as a striker, so I would hope and assume that we are actively trying to sign a striker as I type regardless of what happens with Max (if/when he is sold, we will need another striker/attacking midfielder on top in my eyes).CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 1:04 pmAm I mistaken or did the OP request no financial discussion on this thread? I reckon we'll sign a striker, flog Cornet and sign O'Hare as well.

Said it once ill say it again tired of the fearmongering not from you in particular over the lack of a link end of the day we are in for strikers we know we are, deals have been getting done within 3-4 days of a link as of right now we have over a month and a half of a window remaining we have more than enough time to get what we need and so far Pace, Kompany and the recruitment teams have been doing a worldie of a job so lets give them the benefit of the doubt for once ,though I'm sure some people on this board will refuse to do that, because so far they are proving competent at their roles.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 1:04 pmAm I mistaken or did the OP request no financial discussion on this thread? "Days have passed on, and still words cannot describe how disappointed we are after this relegation into the Championship. We have fallen, but we will rise again.
Burnley will regain their place in the Premier League because this club deserves to be in the elite of English football."
Not a lot that can be drawn. Money will do the real talking when push comes to shove.

Read the article my friend, its not a rumour its simply an assumption based of Cornet saying on insta that "We will get to the premier league" etc etcFirthy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 1:10 pmOK not the greatest website but a rumour that Cornet may be staying at Burnley

The window may have 7 weeks to run, but our 1st game is only 18 days away, so ideally we'd have a new proven forward in by then.TickTock wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 1:08 pmSaid it once ill say it again tired of the fearmongering not from you in particular over the lack of a link end of the day we are in for strikers we know we are, deals have been getting done within 3-4 days of a link as of right now we have over a month and a half of a window remaining we have more than enough time to get what we need and so far Pace, Kompany and the recruitment teams have been doing a worldie of a job so lets give them the benefit of the doubt for once ,though I'm sure some people on this board will refuse to do that, because so far they are proving competent at their roles.
It's been a decent window so far, but no better than simply replacing lots of the quality which we've lost, and many of our signings are relatively unproven at this level, so I wouldn't claim Kompany and the rest of the recruitment team have been doing a worldie of a job, competent yes but certainly not outstanding thus far.

you can buy as many strikers as you want if you have a bottomless pit of money. We have not.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 1:56 pmThe window may have 7 weeks to run, but our 1st game is only 18 days away, so ideally we'd have a new proven forward in by then.

We have 7 weeks to find the right player at an affordable price. Patience will buy that player not more money. I would rather be patient and sign the right player than be press ganged into buying the wrong one before the Huddersfield game.
I had a feeling Andre Gray was signed after the first game and Stephen Thompson too

The likes of Lewis Grabban, Billy Sharp, Dominic Solanke, Danny Ward, Chris Martin, Andrea's Wieman were in the top 20 goalscrores in the Championship last season. Lets not kid ourselves, the standard of the Championship is terrible, the gulf between the two divisions is very wide, both Jay Rod and Barnes will score lots in this league

No, They have done a worldie of a job fact is in our last window under Garlick we got 2 senior players in both of whom were useless half assed signings last season we got 3 main players in, now we have 6 in the first month of the window and are moving quicker and faster than any other teams its irrelevant of what was required but an exemplary effort and I sick and tired of hearing this unproven comment the methods we are using in recruitment ensure the future stability of the club through potential future fees and these potential players combined with the experienced core we spent the last 3 years half assing building up will be a force to be reckoned with. But hey ho lets continue to pretend its underwhelming or isnt that good work when in actually fact its a brilliant effort by the clubs staff who deserve some goddamn plaudits or once from those on this board AND the wider fanbase.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 1:56 pmThe window may have 7 weeks to run, but our 1st game is only 18 days away, so ideally we'd have a new proven forward in by then.

Any rumours amongst all the bickering?
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
To also add to my points we do need a striker who can score goals not a "proven" one cos thats for too expensive Muleka was going to be that till hes work permit fell through which his agent has confirmed BTW so not our fault more BREXIT's. The club are already according to accurate reporters moving to secure other strikers and have a lot of bids on a lot of tables just because we arent hearing names doesnt mean its not happening because it definently is and theirs more than enough time to do it considering the Pace at which we have conducted business.

Unfortunately we've got some fans that NEED to know every step of the process and refreshingly for me anyway it's good to see the club isn't quite the open book it used to be on transfers and we certainly don't seem to be making sure we are being seen to be " making unrealistic attempts " just to appease the fan base that hang on every word . I'm more than happy to leave it to the professionals at the club to keep up the hard work without an announcement every time the tea lady pops the kettle on .

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
The problem with Barnes & Rodriguez is their current fitness.Rodriguez was missing from too many games with injuries last season. At Watford he got injured in the warm up and I think he did not play again in the last 4 or 5 games. Even this year he was unavailable for the Rochdale friendly. Barnes has had big injury problems in the last 3-4 years and his goals record in recent seasons (other than a couple of pens) has been abysmal. Bear in mind the sheer number of fixtures this year and the frequency of 3 games in 7 days. He has had an ACL which is a big recovery, however his hernia took him out a huge section of the season. What is it about Liverpool-you see one of their guys stretchered off and in less than 10 days they are starting in the Champions League.Take note JBG

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Maybe I'm just an old cynic but Judging by how much media attention Cornet is getting I think Maxwel has forgotten to inform his agent of his decision to stay.
Also, I'm embarrassed to say I just looked up "worldie" in a dictionary ready to concoct some appallingly snivelling comment about league 1 players and lo and behold what did I see:
worldie (adjective): Signing two league 1 players, two City academy players and a player from the Jupiler pro league.
How stupid do I feel now?

Are there any actual transfer rumours today?
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We need this season's Andre Gray.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
My take on Barnes/Rodriguez. Good players they are and still should be in the Championship (specifically Rodriguez) however Goalscorers they aren't and never have been. Jay has had a couple of decent seasons but he's only hit over 20 once, Aside from 18 in League 1 Barnes hasn't scored more than 11 in a season at Championship or above. To expect them to start knocking a load of goals in is a bit daft.
