England have been terrific this half, pressing, passing and finishing all top notch

Norway just can't cope

The mere fact that the England ladies are up by 6 goals at half time shows how amateur it is.

This is not good for the sport - it is absolutely miles away from what people think it is
That is rather dependent on what people think it is.

Yeah, you'd never see this happen in the men's game ...
What you are more likely to see is 2 banks of 5, every free kick, every throw in taking 30 seconds, every challenge resulting in an injury that needs treating to kill the game for a while. Just basic shape. In this game despite being counter pressed very well, there was still a desire to stick to the process and try and play through it, but give it away again, and no desire (or ability maybe) to change, to stem that flow.

Yes England are far superior to Norway.
Norway will improve by playing more international matches.
England can only play and win matches against who is put in front of them .
Norway are former World Cup winners and Olympic finalists, and are currently ranked No.11 in the world .... great tradition of women's football over there ...

Germany was 5-0 up against Brazil at half time in the SEMI FINAL of the World Cup in 2014 in a game which finished 7-1.

So yes it does happen in the mens game.

Literally no one plays with two banks of 5 but go ahead King.

Yeah the mens game is professional, thanks for clearing that up

So San Marino, Faroes, Luxembourg, et al don't effectively end up with 2 banks of 5 to nullify / frustrate teams that are over running them?

Grand job so.

It’s entertaining - just enjoy it without comparing it to this that and the other. Take a bow ladies you continued the pressure for the whole match !

Just want people to be honest, call a spade a spade and say the standard is ******** instead of talking in hyperbole.

There’s a real disingenuous element with regards to commentary/punditry about the standard all and it’s super annoying.

There are other channels on TV, if you think it's shiote, turn over and watch something else, it really is that simple.

Blimey! I thought tonight would prove a tough test for England, but they swept a decent Norway side away with ease, and that's a real statement of intent by the favourites on home turf.

This thread is on Up The Clarets Beehole End - a (supposed) football message board where posters make threads on (usually) things football related, normally to gauge opinion, ask a question or just troll.

I’m simply relaying my opinion and asking people to be objective instead of sugarcoating it. That is all.

I actually think it’s more patronising to women to pretend that it’s a brilliant spectacle akin of this much promotion et al - it’s like tokenism to a degree.

You stated your opinion, I had a repost to it, I'm not the only one who said turn over!! If you don't like the games or the 'sugar coating' don't watch it. It seems to be winding you up a lot more than I and others are taking enjoyment from watching it.

It isn't a powerful ultra quick game like mens footy, but it is nice to see the women's team doing well in front of our own fans.

Ok if you find it entertaining then fair enough - I think you’re mad like but variety is the spice of life.

I’m just saying - people sugar coat the standard a hell of a lot and I find it disingenuous.

& no of course I don’t only watch the highest level of football (I’m a Burnley fan for Christ sake) but the level Burnley plays at is very good.

These teams get walloped by under 15s lads teams - I just find the national broadcast and constant media attention superficial (case in point pushing breaking transfer stories on SSN to dupe people into listening)

But whatever

the standard of women's football certainly doesn't merit the exposure it gets. nowhere near.

i wouldn't care but when you consider there are small men's clubs who are struggling and have existed for well over a century it grates a bit.

No diving, no cheating, no feigning injury and no rolling over and over as if they've been shot; they just played footy, it was also nice to see so many kids with their parents in the stands.

Yes it’s the same sport but not the same “game”

They are still elite professionals that deserve to be there.

Even the top mens teams can get beat 8-0

We had millions thrown at us and Man City regularly kicked the **** out of us. If you didn't enjoy it then that's fair enough. I personally enjoy people achieving things regardless of the level they are at.

Little Billy's u10s game isn't getting millions chucked at it and plastered everywhere

No it’s not, but you seem to be getting your knickers in a big twist about comparing 2 different sports to each other

Do I agree with the way the womens game is covered/reported in the media with headlines such as “Chelsea sign top striker”, when they are referring to the womens team? No, but like it or not, the womens game is growing and the amount of girls that are now confident in playing the game, and are bloody good at it too, is increasing.

We had millions thrown at us and Man City regularly kicked the **** out of us. If you didn't enjoy it then that's fair enough. I personally enjoy people achieving things regardless of the level they are at.
Except we've beaten City and gotten results against them

Little Billy wasn't banned from playing for 50 years either, like they were after 50000 turned out to watch at St Helens under Dick Kerrs Ladies. The FA old farts got that big time wrong, so perhaps it's time to make it up to women.

I do however agree that the FA and Premier League should be doing more for junior football, and not just little Billy, but little Jenny too alongside all grass roots. There's billions swilling around in the game, all being swallowed up by greedy top clubs and mercenary players. See, we can agree on something.

Great - just saying call a spade a spade.

No issue with anyone doing anything they want (as long as they don't use someone as a means to an end)

This is a public forum, i'm bored and giving an opinion.
