Maybe Sean wanted to pay the pub a visit but didn't want hoards of fans turning up. An invite only event gets around this, fulfils Dyche's promise to visit the pub and offers the pub a chance to reward it's loyal regulars. A win-win for all parties involved.
I'm jealous at not having been invited but as I'm not a regular at the Royal Dyche it's very understandable that I wasn't invited.
Those who are under 30 won't remember that hoards of fans descended on the Kettledrum within minutes of Gazza being spotted there and it quickly got out of hand.
I think the point being made here is why some snippets from Dyche's Q&A can't be shared.
I might be wrong in my assumption here, but I can't imagine Dyche said "I'll tell you all about things, but it mustn't go beyond these four walls".

Yeah I get all that, who was invited though? Supporters groups? I’m just intrigued. And why can’t it be shared as to what he said? It’s a bit ‘you’re not permitted to know’. I’m not even bothered about tittle tattle, just positive things he may have said

Look at me
To be fair, we usually did every time you slagged Sean and his team off at every opportunity. I really hope you wouldn't have gone if you had known about it.

I too don't blame this for being invitation only or whatever it was. The pub would have been swamped otherwise and it would have been a wasted journey for all involved, plus the bad headlines. To me, it looks to have been well organised, so well done to all those involved in setting it up.

I like the pub for a pint on gameday, only think that confuses me is that they have invited a bunch of people for a behind doors meeting who have never been in the place either.

Hey, apologies if I have the wrong Joey but I thought your username was one of the very critical voices after each draw/defeat.
Again, apologies if I have the wrong chap.

I can confirm the same thing happened when Ian Wright came into the Little Chef with Mitchell Thomas

No, I didn't think it snotty at all.
I just imagined that I (or anyone else) could just walk into a public house and have a pint

I think I’ve said about McNeil being one footed and Weghorst being slow and I don’t apologise for being upset after a defeat.

Great to see him at the Dyche, as mentioned would have been great to have been an open event but impractical , I think those in attendance would have conveyed him much he is loved by the bulk of our fans and they would have conveyed our thanks, sad to see him go but it was the right decision , timing maybe less so.Football is a strange game and our paths will cross again , no matter how far down the line it is , then I’m sure our fans will thank him for what he did then .Now let’s get behind the lads!

Dyche was nowhere near Burnley, never read as much sh!te in my life.
He couldn't be arsed going in when he was manager and had little personal dialogue with the fans so why would he now FFS ?

Morning, mate!
In the spirit on this thread it only just occurred to me the other day that you’re back and posting again after serving your long ban. It must have been absolutely killing not being able to respond to posts on here!!!!!!
Anyway, keep it clean, mature, and respectful and I’ll look forward to bumping into around the place. Remember the only real rule of this forum - no personal insults.

A bit slow on the side there with your realisation.
I received a 30 day ban halfway through last season for calling a homophobic racist thick. I am quite comfortable calling anyone who operates like that. I prefer that to sitting there and allowing it or even giggling at it. As for killing me, I am afraid not, it really doesn't mean as much to me as some hence why I am never around of an evening or weekend, plus I find it more enjoyable going to games than moaning about watching it on tv. I find it amusing reading posts by clowns with my morning coffee, but then clowns are meant to be funny so everyone wins.
Lets hope you also find some enjoyment in the upcoming season, you have struggled previously. UTC

I didn’t see the situation that got you banned so thanks for explaining. Maybe the lesson here is just try and keep things pleasant and friendly without insults, and report any posts that break the rules without responding and further breaking the rules. The forum is a much better place for it.

Just heard you had to have been on Turf vs Colchester in 1987 to get a ticket to the Dyche event.

Excuse me Rowls - I was the match ball sponsor for that game, even getting my name on the front cover of the match programme.
But I wouldn't have expected an invite even though I did once live next door to the landlady's granddad. The only time I've been in the pub since the name change was ahead of the Southampton game last season to make a donation to the Hospice when they were collecting.
Hope everyone had a good day, I'm sure Sean was good value.

Just seen pictures of Sean at the Royal Dyche with the landlady.
Got to apologize because I doubted it. I have never met Sean but what a fantastic guy he is for putting himself out and giving that lovely looking landlady and her regulars such a treat.
He didn't need to and most wouldn't but that was sheer class and thanks Sean for making some Burnley fans very happy and honouring your commitment to the Royal Dyche
Good luck in the future because you deserve it

If he had his whole team there then there must have been business at Turf Moor. You wouldn’t get such an ensemble for an invite-only pub chat on its own merits that involved the travel and time commitment.
So I’m more interested in what was the gig at TM rather than the gig at the pub

Depends if Kompany can land one on Dyche with his massive head...
