And what would have you done in his situation (without being bias)?

Re: Maxwel Cornet Farewell Thank you
I didn't comment on what I would have done.
I don't blame Cornet one bit.
But the usual platitudes of all footballers who go to pastures greener stick in the throat.
He was here what ? 8 months ? and used us as a stepping-stone.
No, I don't blame him - but if anyone thinks he'll "always be a Claret", they need to think again.
I happen to believe he doesn't give two flying ones about BFC and his time here.

Think you're right, but I'm still not convinced he's a tidy enough footballer in some of the basics. I'd allow it though! I know it sounds odd to be criticising him and I'd rather not tbh. Happy to remember the good bits, and there were many.NRC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 11:20 pmOn the left of the front two in the 4222Code: Select all
I’m devastated we don’t get to see him in this system

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
Far from a polished player, and to be honest I’m not sure whether he’s quite at the level West Ham need to improve. But he brought much needed excitement to the club and would have been a huge goal threat for us this season so it’s a big shame to see him leave, albeit seeming like an inevitability for some time. Seems like a genuinely good guy so I wish him all the best.

Re: Maxwel Cornet Farewell Thank you
How could anyone not like Maxwell Cornet? An effervescent, bubbly, likeable disposition. Good luck to him at West Ham. I've seen players lauded at Turf Moor for far less than he gave us in in less than a season. Some of his goals were/are memorable. Allez, Maxwell et bon chance.

Thanks for the memories Maxwell, I will never forget the look on the faces of my boys, when you smashed in that goal against Palace

Obviously he was desperate to return to the prem but stay professional all off season. Some players should take notice. Hope to see him playing on the turf again next year

Re: Maxwel Cornet Farewell Thank you
Those who leave might not “always be a Claret” but they aren’t supporters of the club. It doesn’t stop them having fond memories of their colleagues etc just like when anyone leaves a job for new pastures and you can’t expect much more than this from footballers as anyone else. I agree that it’s silly to get dewy eyed about it all but it’s better than leaving without a word of thanks, surely.alf_resco wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 11:29 pmI didn't comment on what I would have done.

He got his, we got ours.
It was obvious from day one what the situation would be.
Thanks for what you did Cornet, but as usual he's not a Burnley player anymore so I don't wish him luck or anything else.

Knowing how hard it is to get in the WHU team, I shall be monitoring him with interest.I think it could go one of two ways. What I would say is how charming and gracious he was to our fans

And mine. Absolutely poles apart, WW didn’t endear himself to our fans, whereas Max did. I’ll never forget the way he celebrated his goal at home to Brentford, after his first “goal” was ruled out by VAR. Best of luck Max.

Re: Maxwel Cornet Farewell Thank you
He had a good attitude, he played in a bit of a crap negative side that didn't suit him perhaps. He played out of position. He scored a couple of great goals. He was our leading scorer. He had charisma. I agree totally, but I just dont find my self thinking he was a class player.
I just think he was pretty average. I will be shocked if he keeps a place consistently in the West Ham team.

I wouldn't say he was pretty average, but you're right that he probably won't be a consistent starter for West Ham. But let's not forget they've been near the Champions League for the past two years, so to even be a squad player there you have to be a good player.Grandpa Claret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 9:39 amHe had a good attitude, he played in a bit of a crap negative side that didn't suit him perhaps. What a brilliant statement, paying an undisclosed fee which just happens to be £17.5 million, all in the same sentence.
I can confirm that I won't be paying an undisclosed fee this afternoon for a Twix.

Don't get me wrong. All professional players, throughout all the league are fantastic. I am just talking about them in their own relevant world and comparing against the players they will face or indeed compete with for a place in the team.hetheclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 9:49 amI wouldn't say he was pretty average, but you're right that he probably won't be a consistent starter for West Ham. If he was to drop down 4 leagues, I would be no doubt saying, This guy is amazing. I do ramble at times, hopefully I got across what I meant.

No I got your point! Will be interesting to see how well he does in a much better team. Messi would have struggled to score 9 goals for us last season.Grandpa Claret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 10:02 amDon't get me wrong. All professional players, throughout all the league are fantastic. Considering Messi only scored 6 in France last season, that's probably quite a valid claim.hetheclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 10:08 amNo I got your point! Will be interesting to see how well he does in a much better team. Messi would have struggled to score 9 goals for us last season.

Cracking cross from byline and Scamaca couldn’t miss.
Our players can’t get to byline and put proper crosses in.
We cross from between half way line and penalty area and it is easy for Defenders.
Difference between Premier League quality and Championship

Wasn’t easy for Tuesday’s goal.
