You can usually tell from the player ratings whether they've actually watched the game. It's quite rare.Roosterbooster wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 7:49 amI'm not sure why people bother to read media match reports. It is great to be looking forward to the next match, as opposed to dreading the next game, if only I knew the words to the Vitinho chant….. oh well I know one bit but my hearing aid is proving as much use as signing Ben Gibson

Yes not a situation Dyche was in. We never had enough players and major headaches when we had injuries. Great position to be in, so much talent and enthusiasm. Exciting season ahead!jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 9:48 pmThe selection headaches Kompany has all over the pitch (bar at centre back, you might say) are insane. There are so many seriously talented players who are going to be fighting for a starting berth and that’s an enviable position that we’re in, compared to the rest of this league.
Re: It's just brilliant to watch
Fantastic to watch and be a part of. I cant speak today and my throat is in shreds. Great to have a quick chat with CT and all in all a great night.
We seem to still have some people with a weird perception of football and what they are seeing sat behind me, the usual "get it forward" quicker quicker" "we just don't have an pace" Unbelievable and these guys are season ticket holders who I have had to turn round to once already and I can see a 2nd time coming up.
However amazing to see our Team playing like we do and a rocking Turfmoor under the lights, 1st win at home this season what more could you ask for UTC NNN COYC

A Burnley FB scoring with a header from 6” out in open play. Wow.
When was the last time that could have happened? I’d go back to Laws and Wharton but even they didn’t manage that.

It was just so good to see the football on show
Its a huge testament to the work the players, VK and the staff have done to being able to achieve that in such a short space of time

I’m not sure Laws and Wharton would recognise the position Vithinio played last night as being the same as they playedTricky Trevor wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:27 amA Burnley FB scoring with a header from 6” out in open play. Wow.

Football is a form of entertainment, sadly it wasn't for the last couple of seasons. It's certainly entertaining now. Brilliant to watch UTC

It was also great to see a Burnley player attacking the back post and scoring. This isn’t something we’ve been accustomed to seeing in recent times so that aspect was especially pleasing

I watched the EFL highlights from Saturday, and it was obvious they hadn't seen the game at all, just guessing which players they hoped had played well.Roosterbooster wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 7:49 amI'm not sure why people bother to read media match reports. Lazy journalism, and stealing a living

Here's a question (one for the Jimmy Mac I guess)
Was Benson's cross going in anyway? Looked like it might have gone in off the post

Re: It's just brilliant to watch
I may have got the hump at paying £10 to watch on TV last night but it was a terrific performance. Cannot find fault with anyone except the referee, for letting some dodgy challenges go unpunished.
While I’m on this TV business: In buying the broadcast, when it comes to paying why is there no provision to pay using my Burnley Gold ( khaki!) Card?
Does anyone know ?

I thought his head was going to explode when JRod came off at the end, "WTF have you taken him off for?" Etc, etc.
I toyed with the idea of explaining how Jay needs wrapping in cotton wool but I doubt fella would understand.
Anyhow, a superb performance from start to finish and 'that' pass from Muric...bloody hell.

Re: It's just brilliant to watch
Our one touch passing will leave many sides struggling in terms of fitness when they have spent a large majority of the game chasing the ball.Flying Without Ings wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 12:22 amAfter tiring Millwall out with our passing, I really think we can use the 5 sub option to our advantage and kill teams off like we did with pace and quality like with Benson tonight.
Some real talent on that pitch - not felt that this enthused to go watch us in a long time.
Following new owners, finance issues, relegation and a change of management, we entered a period of real uncertainly about where and how the club would move forward.
There is nothing to suggest that we are on any form of a downward spiral.
Exciting times are here now and in the future. The atmosphere at the Turf has been superb. The recruitment of an entirely different squad with a number of promising young but generally untried players has been a bit of a gamble but which seems to be paying off. There are players in the side who will already be on the radar of premier league clubs. Alan Pace outlined that this would be our strategy even in the event of relegation from the PL.
The appointment of VK has been instrumental in the way that the club we are going. We could have gone with tried and tested managers with PL and Championship credentials. VK has European and Premier League connections especially Man City
It is a new dawn. Embrace it.

“Stop fannying about with it at the back, get it up field, what you passing it back for” and on the rare occasion we do go long “what you hitting it up there for”.
I’m biting my tongue for now but he’s going to have to have an epiphany in respect of the way we play the game now or I’ll have to say something soon. I can’t go a whole season with his loud waffle!

Re: It's just brilliant to watch
That's a very interesting watch. He's not quite right with his assessment of why we are where we are (given this side isn't quite the Prem side - although we do have some key positions) but his assessment that we are miles ahead of Millwall and we will take some stopping this season is hugely positive.
It's hard not to get carried away when we are doing so well (unbeaten in 5 now) but when opposition fans are looking at you and saying similar things you start to think we might just be the real deal

Has a yone mentioned the club video of Jay's goal.
25 passes and every single player had a touch, one of those things you wouldn't realise at the time.
