Benson 9 - the best substitute appearance I’ve seen in a hell of a long time. He was outstanding.

Cork 9 - Superb
Jay Tella Brownhill And Benson 7.5 even 8s (ok 8s)
Rest 7 which seems harsh
Good Team Performance
a note for Barnes - did "Barnes" when required but also made great runs dragging their knackered defenders all over the place.

Same scores as quoon.quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 11:29 pmMuric - 8 on course for a 9 tonight if he'd played 90 minutes. Some smart saves when he was called upon and his distribution is wild. The ball pinged the length of the pitch on to Tella's toe a particular highlight. Tella's offside goal came from a quick ball out by Muric. The extra dimension he gives our play is vital.
Roberts - 7 untroubled and got forward a bit more than Saturday
Harwood-Bellis - 7 not his best game defensively as he wasn't dominant in the air but otherwise fine and obvs great on the ball
Taylor - 7 much better than recent. Found his man down the line a lot more.
Vitinho - 7 hardly in the first half, did brilliant to get on the end of Benson's cross and then spent the rest of the game in various positions across the front line
Cork - 9 Generalé. Read everything and dominated the midfield.
Cullen - 8 was everywhere on the pitch, carried the ball and used it really well. Best game since the first one.
Brownhill - 7 nowhere near the heights of the weekend but he was still involved in lots of good stuff, including both goals I think so we'll take that
Tella - 7 didn't look offside but he was at the weekend so that's evened out. His pace is the obvious threat but his touch is excellent what sets him apart as he gets himself straight on the front foot.
Rodriguez - 8 lol at all those bozos who had written him off. If he stays fit he's the 20 goal man people were moaning we don't have.
Benson - 8 very much the impact sub, which I think is where his role should remain for the time being. That goon at left back didn't know what to do.
Peacock-Farrell - 7 did well. Most importantly, did nothing silly.
Millwall are just a gang of lummoxes, all snide fouls and spoiling the tactics. As usual, another weak referee let them get away with it but our lads were patient and kept working for the openings, which deservedly came. A comprehensive win in the end.
Loved it. Best football we've played since 72 to 75.

We got rewarded for our patience and thats the way I think it will be for the vast majority of our games this season. Credit to the crowd for understanding and giving fantastic backing once again. Another excellent performance and a joy to watch, especially in the second half.

Re: Burnley v Millwall - Player Ratings
Muric 7 (one great save, but I'm yet to be totally convinced). Roberts 6. Tella 8. THB 8. Taylor 7. Vitihno 8. Cork 8. Brownhill 8. JBG 7. Cullen 8. Jayrod 8. Benson 8. BPF 7. Never a dour game, despite apparently being described that way on a Sky report, but a game of 2 different styles and ours is so, so refreshing to watch after what we've been used to. We're great when we've got the ball and teams are genuinely scared of us, but we're also vulnerable to high balls in the air and we rarely win contested headers these days and that's something else we're not used to and will cause us problems all season in this division as we'll be bombarded. Great to see everyone enjoying the footy again, appreciating what VK is trying to do and leaving the ground smiling.

A very professional display and a thoroughly deserved 3 points and clean sheet. The whole team played well but I must single out Cork. His performance was pretty much faultless and absolutely ran the midfield ably assisted by the 2 Josh’s. In my opinion that was one of the best games Jack has had in a Burnley shirt. Long may it continue

Good performances all round but Cork, Tella, Rodriguez and Benson showed extra quality/creativity which was essential for the victory. Cork and Cullen look a great pairing in central midfield.

Re: Burnley v Millwall - Player Ratings
Muric 7 - Still seems that there's a collective holding of breath in the stands whenever the ball's passed back to him; even with lots of time he appears rushed/paniced/unsure where to play it and too often that eats up the time that he does have.
Roberts 6
Harwood-Bellis 7
Taylor 8 just the opposite of Muric, some gorgeous passes
Vitinho 7
Cork 9 Man of the match, just a cut above the rest and all so casual/controlled/effortless
Cullen 7
Brownhill 7
Gudmundsson 6 Maybe just me? He's lost (never to return) that initial acceleration, plus I'm waiting for him to pull up injured every time he gets the ball
Tella 8
Rodriguez 7 Only has 60 minutes in him at our new pace and three times in the second half we had to check/adapt an attack to work around JayRod being five yards offside from the previous one. On two of those he'd stopped to adjust his hair, but I suspect (hope - I'd be even more annoyed if it weren't!) that this was a ploy to cover him catching his breath
Benson 8
Peacock-Farrell 7 Was I the only one who actually felt more comfortable with BPF closing out the game for us?
I know that they didn't play long enough to score points, but I thought Costelloe looked much more assured/better as for Ashley... we saw it all in the first thirty seconds: He came on to a muted cheer, ran thirty yards, got the slightest touch from behind and sprawled in a heap appealing for a free kick, he wasn't getting them in the EPL and he's even less likely to get them in the Championship.

Interesting. I'd say he's been the exact opposite of all those. Sometimes he's not chosen the best option but he's making better decisions by the game for me.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 10:54 ameven with lots of time he appears rushed/paniced/unsure where to play it

Couldn’t make it last night due to the dreaded c word, but heartened by the marks for Benson. Let’s normalise not writing players off after two appearances.

Re: Burnley v Millwall - Player Ratings
Muric 8 - One hairy moment from the cross, otherwise excellent. Loved the support from players and fans he got for the stunning long ball to Tella.
Roberts 7 - Sloppy a couple of times but otherwise very solid and linked better in attack than he has in the other home games.
THB 7 - Found Afobe a handful towards the end, but some of his passes are just nuts.
Taylor 7 - Probably his best game at CB yet, should probably have scored his chance though.
Vitinho 8 - He's not as eye-catching as Maatsen but has done enough to keep that place for now.
JBG 7 - End product not quite there but gives us a better balance than others who have played that RW spot.
Cullen 8 - Best game for us since his debut. Slotting in between Vitinho and Taylor suits him nicely.
Cork 9* - Too good for this league. Remember when his legs had gone? LOL
Brownhill 8 - Took up some fantastic positions, especially in the second half, but shooting was tamer than of late.
Tella 8 - Unlucky not to get another goal, links well with Jay, his pace is a huge threat and his touch is great too.
Jay 8 - Poacher's instinct for his goal, a lovely pass for Tella's offside one and generally led the line perfectly.
Benson 8 - Made a huge impact. Don't think anyone was writing him off, more that this is what we expected and he hadn't delivered it yet. I hope we resist the temptation to start him as being able to throw him on in the second half is going to terrify teams.
BPF 7 - Couple of smart saves and distribution was OK too.
Really good performance, helped by fans not getting impatient (winning 5-1 at the weekend helps). Benson the game-changer but felt the goal was always going to come. Clean sheet is nice too given we haven't looked like keeping them.

Re: Burnley v Millwall - Player Ratings
Muric 7- couple shaky moments couple good saves and passes. Injury is a concern.
Roberts- 6. Just is not doing it. Would drop him for Lowton or Vitinho- don't buy that Vitinho "can't play that role".
THB- 8. Very impressive composed performance.
Taylor-7. Growing into the role.
Vitinho -7. Completely ignored by his teammates especially Cullen, bizarre frankly, but had brilliant movement, got a goal and as he usually does impressed when involved.
Cork- 9. Superb. Ran the show.
Cullen-8. Also kept us ticking over but a bit more predictable in his choices than Cork.
JBG 7. Was probably our best player until his substitution unlucky to come off but did well. Keep him in.
Brownhill 7. Kept quieter but still solid.
Tella- 7. Much better second half than first. Hangs onto the ball too much but he's a crafty quick runner.
Jay-8. Brilliant display, he was everywhere.
Subs-
Benson-8. Live wire when he came on, looks like he's best as an impact sub.
BPF-7. Did well under the pressure, some decent saves.
Special mention to Barnes who held it up much better than I expected in his cameo. Still think his time is up but did a job yesterday.
