Current scoring rate
At our current rate we are on to score over 80 goals this season
Last seasons championship table of goals scored
Fulham 106
Bournemouth 74
Huddersfield 64
Forest 73
Sheff Utd 63
We stand every chance playing at the levels we are seeing now, I expect that to improve quite a bit as the season goes on and the lads really understand the system. The signs are very positive

Re: Current scoring rate
It was only a couple of weeks ago everyone was majorly concerned about how we just couldn't score goals. What a difference a couple of weeks can make.
The move away from complete possession and into this new tactic has seen an immense change. We look dangerous everytime we go forward now. Especially as the goals are also coming from midfield, the wings, strikers and even wing backs.

Personally think this is what you should have saidburnleymik wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 1:49 amIt was only a couple of weeks ago everyone was majorly concerned about how we just couldn't score goals. What a difference Jayrod instead of Barnes makes.
Re: Current scoring rate
Very politely put that, but it's absolutely the nail on the head.
But I'm sure even the most hardened of Barnes fans could see he was way below what we needed, it was painful seeing him like that.

Re: Current scoring rate
We'll score a bundle this season at this rate, and already 6 different names on the scoring charts, however it can't be coincidence that we've netted 10 in our past 3 league games when Jay has returned to the starting line-up, key he and Tella stay fit for the majority of the season.

Re: Current scoring rate
Bring Zaroury, Twine and Churlinov into the equation when they are up to speed and it’s all a bit mad!
Re: Current scoring rate
It’s a shame really, he’s a shadow of his former self. I hope his appearances are limited to the odd cameo from the bench this season and we can remember him for the great player he’s been for us over the years.

Re: Current scoring rate
Pray to the lord above Jay doesn't get injured. He was absolutely pivotal again last night. We'll get less points without him in the team, simple as that. (Unless we get a new striker in of equal quality)

One could just as easily use Tella instead of Jay.Matt_Whalley wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:54 amPredicted league goals scored based on:

It's the goals we'll concede that will be the problem

Re: Current scoring rate
To be fair to Barnes using this same projection he'd get 30 assists so would have put in a decent shift...Matt_Whalley wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:54 amPredicted league goals scored based on:

Re: Current scoring rate
This is all well and good but I do think people are getting a bit carried away. Jay Rod is one quick turn away from a groin strain.
And not to be all doom and gloom (just realistic) but have we played against a defensively good side yet? Watford? Well we couldn’t break them down although I realise we were very unlucky.
I think we will be better placed once we’ve played some better sides such as Norwich and West Brom coming up to start guessing how many goals we’re going to end up with.

Re: Current scoring rate
Why will they be a barometer of how many goals we might score? They’re one of a small number of teams likely to be defensively sound. The majority, who will be less so, will be where most of our goals come from.Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 5:31 pmThis is all well and good but I do think people are getting a bit carried away.
