Against Millwall he had the highest % pass success 91%.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 10:11 amI don't think Taylor suits our style or system.
It's not the defending out of position, but he looks so slow, and his passing is really poor compared to those around him.
I always rated him in the Prem, one of the first names on the sheet, but he's had a poor start to the season. If we could get a replacement I'd cash in, but do we have any interest.

I like CT, but the vast majority of the passes were sideways to TBH. Which is good because he's the best passer in team by a long way.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 10:32 amAgainst Millwall he had the highest % pass success 91%.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Very well put, Spice, though I totally disagree with you.claretspice wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 9:52 amNot sure about that. Think it's easy to underestimate Long. He reads the game fairly well and is a technically good defender (he worked with Dyche for nearly 10 years) and is a good athlete - good in the air (which we need - THB is a bit vulnerable in the air and the common theme with almost all the top end teams in the league is that they'll be more physical than us) and deceptively quick - certainly at this level, he'd be perfectly comfortable with the high line that we play. Perhaps he's not as good as Kompany would like with ball at feet (I always thought that when he deputised for Tarkowski, we missed Tarks more in possession than defensively), but again our perception of him is slightly skewed by the fact virtually all his football for us has been at Premier League level where that is magnified. It might be that compromising slightly on the ability of one player of the team to play that way optimises the effectiveness of the team as a whole.
In an ideal world we'd bring in a centre back and Long would probably go to make way. I still think a centre half is our biggest single priority today. But it might be that Long's injury has actually scuppered that - we can't move him out. If he's in the squad, I'd be seriously contemplating him as a better option alongside THB than Taylor.
Do you write references for a living?

So he is doing what he is meant to do, getting the ball to either TBH or left wing back?summitclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 10:36 amI like CT, but the vast majority of the passes were sideways to TBH. Which is good because he's the best passer in team by a long way.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
No players apart from Kevin Long are happy to sit on a bench every week, Taylor wouldn't be happy but we can't pick him on that basis. He isn't a top centre back at this level regardless of how good he's been for us.
Unfortunately if we can bring a centre back in Taylor drops out

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Long survived as a back-up CH in the Premier League for 6 years and rarely disgraced himself. He’d be well capable at this level and that may be the reason Kompany seems pretty relaxed about whether or not he brings in another CH.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Who's this German centre back we've been linked with?
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Wouldn't be surprised to see Adam Phillips go permanently and Bobby Thomas go out on loan.
We're surely OK at Centre half with Long and McNally and potentially Bobby Thomas as cover (if he goes out and can be recalled).
We're so used to playing two strikers that just having Jay and Barnes sounds risky but there are a number of players who could step in if required.
Bastien, Benson, Tella, Twine, Zaroury, Churlinov how many players have we be told can play anywhere across the front line?

Adam Phillips may be off to Michael Duff's Barnsley which will be a good move for all concerned as it frees up a slot for the 25 as if he stays we are already up to 25 unless we dont name Norris or Long

Personally can’t understand signing another young centre half on loan.

Just looked him up on wiki and the first thing I checked was his height (how times have changed). Listed as a right back but looks to have a decent pedigree.Claret Alfie wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 11:15 amJordan Beyer from Mönchengladbach according to Twitter

He’s a centre half according to Transfermarkt. I’ll take their word over wiki.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Bringing Beyer in may allow us to loan out a couple of ours rather than just one. Or potentially let one leave on permanent , possibly Lowton or Long? Loan out Thomas and Dodgson?
Add to that, we may sight this lad out to be a permanent in the future, who knows

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Yeah I’m sure he’s a decent player, fully trust Kompany in that sense.agreenwood wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 11:27 amPlayed a decent number of games in the Bundesliga last season. He’s not that green.
But with Dervisoglu too being a loan, that would make it 5 in total, including 3 out of the back 4 (if Maatsen started).
Plus you’re dropping Taylor (experienced) for a loanee, hmm.

We’ve purchased 10-11 players this summer for a transfer fee. We were always going to loan a few to thicken the squad out.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 11:28 amhttps://twitter.com/berger_pj/status/15 ... 9385956353
