Muric - 8 - a couple of excellent saves and commanded his area well.

Roberts - 7 - took his goal well and i thought he generally got forward well. But that's the second goal in 4 days which is partly a result of lamentable back post defending on his part. He simply can't allow a threatening header from there.

Vitinho - 6 - no blame attached for the goal but generally it wasn't his best night and I'm not sure the balance was right down the left side.

THB - 7 - steady enough, might have scored.

Beyer - 7 - a couple of nervy moments but that's to be expected and he looks a fine defender.

Cork - 8 - really good nights work.

Cullen - 7 - neat and tidy and occasionally incisive but I thought he was a bit passive for the equaliser.

Brownhill - 7 - really lovely ball for the goal and fizzed a couple if other crosses, but he wasn't a consistent attacking influence. Won the ball back effectively.

Benson - 6 - some nice moments but lacked an end product today.

Tella - 6 - an intermittent threat and a little greedy when he dispossessed the defender, but he worked hard. Still not sure why he's increasingly sticking out on the left - he's more effective when he comes inside and it'd have been nice to see him pop up om the right occasionally tonight.

Jay - 7 - linked it nicely but not much goal great apart from the long range howitzer.

JBG - 6 - I understand the sub, but not the tactic if then hitting long diagonals searching for a ball in behind - not his game lads, that's Manuel's game. If you want to try it when he's not on the pitch, put Tella that side.

Generally a decent performance undermined by a few unforgivable moments defensively, one of which cost us. Can't concede goals like that- miles too soft. I'm not sure the balance us quite right when Vitinho plays left back - it means everything is coming inside on the left and with Benson fingers the same on the right we were too easily funnelled into the congested centre. Bizarrely, having got the goal and forced Stoke to switch to a back 4, we elected not to exploit the obvious spaces - we needed Tella to come centrally and Brownhill or JBG to slot in off the left but it never happened. In the event the lack of defensive nous on Tella's part contributed to the goal (he didn't track his man) although Roberts still should have prevented it.

We're close but if we keep throwing points away through such slack defending and rank game management, it won't matter. It has to stop sharpish- Kompany has to demand more of himself and his players.

Needed to make chances count. Stoke weren’t up to much but we threw it away again. A soft touch at the moment with poor game management. It’ll need to improve if we are going to achieve anything this season. Nice football but it’s too slow and not threatening enough at the moment.

Muric 7 Commanded his area better than previous and took pressure of the defence
Roberts 7 Got forward well and cracking finish but still worries me defensively
THB 6 defends well but he`s not Beckenbauer wasted a lot of possession
Beyer 6 Just steady, looks a little pedestrian pace wise at times
Vitinho 6 nothing really
Cullen 6 Personally have been disappointed with his performances, expected more creativity and better distribution, don`t think he does
enough to keep a fully fit Westwood out of the team
Cork 8 MoM he was everywhere
Brownhill 6 Worked hard as always but didn`t pull up any trees
Benson 6 plenty of huff & puff but holds on to the ball to long and no end product
Jay 6 Obviously playing under orders but needs to be central more often as an option
Tella 6 poor tonight by his own standards

JBG 5 seems to have joined the don`t cross it when you get the chance club

Sorry but a bit of a borefest again, players attempting to run in behind but not getting the ball, it comes across that keeping possession is a higher priority than taking a chance to create a chance, pretty football is okay but it won`t get us promoted when it`s predictable and played at a pedestrian pace with all the opposition back behind the ball denying space. VK may need to rethink his tatics for the final ten minutes when we are 1 up, like shoring up in front of the back four.

Muric - 7 made 3 decent saves, no chance with the goal.

Roberts - 8 not much he could do about the goal, their lad is taller and has the run on the ball so he can attack it. Lovely run and finish for his goal and there were number of times he broke down the right but was ignored, mainly by Benson.

Harwood-Bellis - 6 a couple of dodgy moments and launches out of play. Sees loads of the ball but with 11 opponents in front of him, he can't do a lot with it.

Beyer - 7 defended well against Delap, who should have been sent off for 2 yellows, and used the ball well enough.

Vitinho - 4 tonight showed the limitations of playing a heavily right footed left back - launching it across the box and out of play on the opposite touchline being a prime example. He gets himself forward a lot but there's something that just doesn't quite click with him when he's up there.

Cork - 8 best player on the pitch yet again

Cullen - 6 looks like he could do some real damage when he gets the ball near left back but he invariably can't because he's right footed. Needs to pass through the lines more. Will be interesting when Westwood gets back up to speed as they're very similar players.

Brownhill - 6 lovely ball through to Roberts for our goal cancelled out by his complete non-challenge in the build-up to theirs.

Benson - 5 if anything, he saw too much of the ball as he didn't do anywhere near enough with it. A lot of the time, he held on to it for too long and we lost momentum. Air shot summed up his game as he'd done really well to get in down the right.

Tella - 5 out wide far too often and not pulling the ball back when he was in on the touchline was really poor

Rodriguez - 6 decent long ranger in the first half but largely he's getting involved in a bit too much away from the penalty area.

Gudmundsson - 5 not in it

Frustrating night again but we're still ahead of where we should be really and there's plenty of time to make the necessary tweaks. A start would be playing a settled back 4. Having two of the best left backs in the division on the bench in favour of a right footer, is a frankly bizarre decision, assuming neither was injured.

The main problems are up top though; nobody seems to want to play a killer pass, there's too much emphasis on safely retaining possession and the lack of appetite for having a proper shot is proving a real frustration - we should be pumping dross like Stoke.

That said, we aren't far off and I do think that things will click eventually. Keep drawing in the manner isn't ideal but losing would be a lot worse.

Muric 7 - very commanding and came for a few crosses, would have been a miracle save for their goal
Roberts 7 - great finish but poor in the air for their goal
Harwood-Bellis 7 - good player but doesn’t take it by the scruff of the neck, there is something a bit vulnerable about him
Beyer 6 - some good moments but a few hairy ones too
Vitinho 4 - poor tonight, was one of several who lost his head after they scored, which is a worry, should have been pulled on 60
Cork 9 MOM - imperious, the reason we dominated, Premier League class in the middle they couldn't handle, strength and poise
Cullen 7 - lively, was always moving
Brownhill 7 - played well, but in that advanced position he needs goals and assists, shots as a minimum
Tella 6 - generally poor and looks incapable of so many matches, but he did have a couple of good moments, some poor choices and one terribly poor choice which in hindsight cost us a win
Benson 7 - had so much ball but needs to find a killer pass, its either the safe one or a sling in
Rodriguez 8 - knitted it together well again but needs a partner to run behind

Gudmundsson 6 - didn’t see much of the ball

Another very frustrating one where their lot say like everyone else does that we are the best side in the division but we somehow aren’t turning it into wins. We’re not being pummelled though, it was only West Brom and that spell Blackpool had. These have been really good crosses and finishes late in games. I’m tempted to say it is one of those things but stats don’t lie about regular late goals and maybe VK needs to put an extra CB on to see games out, going 5 at the back and pushing the full backs up more. We need that height.

Going forward we looked good at times, out of ideas at others, but they were hanging on and it was only Jagielka’s experience that got them over the line. We probably need Twine but we haven’t seen him enough to say, we definitely miss Churlinov and we seem to miss a plan B tactically, we need to start getting that second goal because only 2 clean sheets means we cannot rely on them.

Lots of positives, but the same old negatives costing us again.

I like Tella a lot, but he's wasted on the wing, I'd rather see Zaroury out there, and have Tella running through the middle and in the box.
Benson can look brilliant, but when Roberts carries the ball forward, he keeps running back towards him closing Roberts space, when he should be playing off the last man down the line.
We concede far too many headers in the box, through our lack of movement. We have to learn to attack the ball, you can't mark your space and make a dead jump, and expect to win the ball.

Say no more best team for 85 minutes, in which was a poor game. As soon as they broke for the equaliser I had my head in my hands. Sucker punch again describes it all. Becoming a worrying statistic

Muric 7 - some good saves, commanded area well, no chance on goal
Roberts 7 - good goal, better generally
Harwood-Bellis 6 - good on the ball but a bit weak
Beyer 7 - good on the ball
Vitinho 5 - no way should he be playing ahead of Taylor/Maatsen
Cork 8* - class
Cullen 6 - need a bit more
Brownhill 7 - busy, good assist
Tella 5 - wasn’t at the races tonight
Benson 6 - highly frustrating
Rodriguez 6 - dropping too deep

Gudmundsson 6

Groundhog Day. Charlie Taylor should not be sat on the bench in the Championship. We need to stop going cautious when we go a goal up. Just keep playing your game. I remain convinced the elements are there but we need to start learning our lessons quick sharp.

Muric 7 Good all round performance
Roberts 6 includes +1 for goal and -1 for their goal. Identical poor positioning for their goal as Cardiffs.
Harwood-Bellis 6 looks to me like a classy midfielder more than a central defender
Beyer 7 Looks promising
Vitinho 5 Taylor should be left back, not a right footer
Cork 8 MOM. Head and shoulders above all arounf him
Cullen 6 Time to get Westwood fit
Brownhill 6 Good through ball for Roberts goal
Tella 5 A bit greedy and better through the center, where his pace is better used
Benson 5 Lacks end product
Rodriguez 5 Not playing central enough

Gudmundsson 5 Lacked end product today

Muric 7 - decent all round game, commanded his area a bit more
Roberts 8 - thought he got forward well all game but that Brownhill pass is one of the first times his runs got spotted
THB 6 - passing wasn’t quite on point tonight
Beyer 8 - reads the game really well and is quick for a cb
Vitinho 4 - Maatsen please
Cork 8* - another fine performance
Cullen 7 - busy all night and thought he used it well
Benson 6 - saw a lot of the ball, tried to make things happen but oddly at times slowed us down
Brownhill 7 - +1 for the lovely ball to Roberts
Tella 5 - we can blame the defence for the goal conceded but we simply cannot be missing those type of chances at 1-0
Rodriguez 5 - thought his link play was a bit off tbh

JBG 5 - lost the ball every time he touched it

Muric - 7 - couple of smart saves

Roberts - 7 - best game in a while
THB - 6 - not quite at the standards he’s set
Beyer - 8 - looks a class act
Vitinho - 6 - made some great runs that were ignored time and again

Cullen - 5 - ponderous
Cork - 8* - another excellent performance
Brownhill - 6 - solid

Benson - 4 - I just don’t get it. Beats a man, half beats a man, let’s the man catch him back up, switches back on to his left foot and passes it back 15 yards. For all his possession he created Jack all.
Jay Rod - 6 - good link play. When was the last time a decent chance was created for him in the box? Bristol City?
Tella - 5 - just got to pull that back on the by line

JBG - 5

We just don’t kill teams off. The conceding of late goals looks like it’s starting to play on the mind. For all the possession we have it’s way too slow most of the time. Hopefully Twine will make a difference whenever he comes in. We will get better I’m sure. UTC

Blunt in attack, soft at the back. Becoming our standard display unfortunately

Muric 7
Roberts 6
THB 6 good on the ball but can't defend or head a ball
Beyer 6
Vitinho 7
Cullen 4 Mr safe pass needs a rest and to learn to pass a ball forwards
Cork 7
Brownhill 6
Tella 4 another that needs a rest
Benson 5 holds the ball to long and no end product
JRod 4 barely got involved
Now this is comedy.

Can only assume people are watching a different Connor Roberts to me. Scores a goal the keeper should have done better for and might as well head the leveller in for them with the effort to defend he put in and he’s scoring higher than 5s. Warwick Davis could have scored that equaliser the way he jumped for it.

Should be nowhere near the side at RB.

Guess people see different games eh?

We were in complete control, and looking like we were going to add to our tally, and they score a goal out of nothing - haven't seen it back yet but both Brownhill and Vitinhio have got to do a lot better there

Lots of positives undermined by a silly bit of play for their goal really

Just a bit frustrating

Muric 7 - nothing wrong there
Roberts 8 - clearly been allowed to get forward more if Vitinhio is playing and it does suit him, harsh to blame him for the goal I think (but I haven't seen it back yet)
THB 7 - solid
Beyer 7 - looks a player
Vitinhio 6 - quiet and could do better for the goal
Benson 7 - great at retaining possession, but he does have to do more with it, but the lack of options in the middle isn't helping
Cork 8* - MOM imperious at this level
Cullen 6 - he's neat and tidy but not shown more than that yet
Brownhill 7 - another who seemed to be playing well within himself and could do better for the goal
Tella 5 - quiet, and made the wrong decision when he should have squared it
JayRod 7 - really involved, but too deep I feel

Subs
JBG 6

Cullen, Brownhill and Cork give us a really solid base in the midfield, and we always seem to have a ball on, but are we getting enough support up in attack to create chances?

Just a bit frustrated tbh, but overall still pretty happy

Worrying couple of games - little end product may improve, less confident our ability to hold onto leads will

Lack of edit a real problem on this board.

When I wrote above that Brownhill needed more assists I meant in general for a no. 10. Obviously he got a good one last night. We just so often miss that crafty final ball.

From tv

Muric 7 had a good game last night
Roberts 7 plus one for the goal
THB 7 good again
Beyer 8 going to be an excellent cb, has to play
Vitihno 5 defensively poor as usual, Charlie has to play here
Benson 6 good in bits, needs to attack the defender more
Cullen 6 too much sideways again, he's becoming Westwood Mark 2
Cork 8 still our most creative midfielder, but he tires in the last 20 mins
Brownhill 7 did a lot of work and assisted in the goal
Tella 6 needs to play centrally off a striker
Jayrod 7 played well as a midfielder but we need him and others in the box
JBG 6 never got going

While I thought we were average to good as individuals, I would have gone with 7 or 8 as a team, definitely a team 8 if we'd have prevented their goal.

Muric 7 - the busier of the two goalkeepers in terms of real saves and becoming more reliable, still needs to check his studs.
Roberts 7 - I liked the way he didn't stop looking for the overlap despite his runs being fruitless because of the slow build up of moves in the first half. Rewarded with a goal which he finished well. The way the manager wants us to defend does not help his defensive game and that showed again.
Harwood - Bellis 6 - Good work on the ball but shaky when we were put under pressure
Beyer 7 - played a good defensive game but would have been better supported by a more experienced central defender prepared to take no prisoners.
Vitinho 6 - Pre- occupied with the attacking side of the game, looking to create more than defend.
Benson 6 - lots of movement and energy , needed to find more of an end product
Cork 8 - Left to do too much again, needed a central partner prepared to support his forward thinking
Cullen 5 - Does everything the manager asks of him but needed to think for himself as it didn't help keep the pressure on the opposition when we went ahead.
Brownhill 7 - lovely forward pass for our goal and some good back- post corners which weren't attacked well enough. Plenty of energy.
Tella- 5 Poor on the ball
Rodrigues 6 - One great shot in the first half but needed to be in the box more.

Gudmundsson 4 - not very good

Cork 8 - He's been the best player on the pitch in pretty much every game this season. If there's a better central midfielder in the league than Cork then he'll have to be some player.
