Never knew that so as I like support our ex managers that gives me a Scottish team to support. Come on Newcastle, Shrewsbury and Queens Park!!!lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 4:12 pmOwen Coyle has been manager of Queens Park since June.
Amazingly, they are doing quite well in the Scottish Championship.

Maybe you could spend more time on Queens park’s forum, and less on here thenDevils_Advocate wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 4:46 pmNever knew that so as I like support our ex managers that gives me a Scottish team to support. Come on Newcastle, Shrewsbury and Queens Park!!!

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Yes, you could be right. Just believe had we backed him a little more, when we achieved Europe, rather than rumbling round the bargain basement or losing out because our bids were going up £1:50 at a time. We could have achieved a lot more. Dyche achieved miracles with a bang average squad, and was forced to play the way we did.
If his next club back him he could set up a legacy that will surpass what he achieved with us.
But he’s not our manager anymore. We’ve got a very good manager in the making, some prospects, and a promotion to look forward to this season.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
And why wouldn’t he be? Not a lot else out there at the moment with anywhere near SD’s track record. If I was a Baggie, I’d be yelling at the board to get him in ASAP.Commy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 4:25 pmhttp://westbrom.com/forum/index.php?topic=27312.0

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Shoe-in for Dyche, TBH I hope he doesn't get it as he will make them genuine promotion candidates.
Re: Steve Bruce sacked
I suspect that unless a club matches the wages that SD is currently on here he'll not be taking up a managerial role anytime soon.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
That's exactly true & why should he, the fault lies with giving him the contract & then getting rid of him so quickly without even thinking, let him see the season out & then pull the trigger you still have to pay out either way but not 100% 1 way. On what planet was MJ equally as matched as SD he did well but if any confidence was there he would have stayed on as the main man.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Was it not the case that Sunderland couldn't close out the Keane appointment because Sky wanted £2million compensation for Keane's contract?
Would WBA be willing to cover that?
As others have said Dyche seems the perfect for this job.
Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Hasn’t Dyche said in his many podcasts that he’s happy to wait and see if any PL club will take him for a period of time?

Dyche is not in the running wants a premiership club villa or Leicester I presume Not Notts Forest as they have extended coopers contract.

It would not surprise me if SD took every available penny from the club before looking at any other employment.

Penny for a pinch of sh1t what right minded bloke wouldn't if nobody else will match or better it's money for nothing & he might feel over the course of his tenure & the money he brought in it's deserved compensation.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 7:33 pmIt would not surprise me if SD took every available penny from the club before looking at any other employment.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
I'm not suggesting he wouldn't but then again I'm not linking him with every available vacancy under the sun. I honestly don't think anybody wants him anyway not enough for him to break off the agreement he's got here he'll sit tight until it expires unless a crazy offer comes along.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 7:43 pmExactly. Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Maybe he actually wants to get back into the game rather than rehashing old anecdotes with Jimmy Bullard? Leave it too long and he might find that no offers come along.
Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Carlos Corberan been linked with West Brom.
Re: Steve Bruce sacked
I'm sure someone will correct me if my figures are wrong.
I think SD is curretly being paid £3m+ pa by BFC. This contract has another 30 months to run?
Therefore another club would need to pay him the said £3m+ pa just for him to break even and get all the aggro and sweat that would accompany it. In any case, I doubt many clubs outside the Prem's top 6 would pay that
If he is so minded, he can swan around for the foreseeable, playing golf and generally enjoying himself.
Then again he might be missing the cut and thrust of footy management and be itching to get back in.
But I severely doubt he'd do it for less than £3m+ pa.

I feel he may have reached his peak as a manager a few seasons back, if so he will hardly command the same salary and contract given him by the evil Mike Garlick. He is on brilliant money, money which he can add to by doing media stuff.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Is this the least surprising sacking in football just now?
Incidentally what a weird profession football management is. In no other industry I can think of would someone be offered a multi million pound job with a string of sackings on their cv. Very few managers have consistent success on their record and many (most?) have abject failure. It is indeed as someone has pointed out a gravy train. Some managers crop up every time there is a vacancy yet when you look at their history it is littered with sackings and total failure. Weird.
Fully agree with that viewpoint. There's no finer example of this than with the Serial Loser, Steve McClaren. He's presently Ten Hag's Deputy at Old Trafford. McClaren has had quite a few sackings from English clubs, sacked from England Manager, and, if I recall correctly, also sacked from from European clubs.

I thought his current (new and improved) contract was given him by our new American owners.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:00 pmsalary and contract given him by the evil Mike Garlick.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Serial loser a tad harsh. Won a league cup with Boro and took them to the final of the UEFA cup. Has legendary status with FC Twente fans after he led them to their first ever title. Clearly a respected coach too considering he worked under Ferguson etc. Most managers end up being sacked, notably our former legendary manager.daveyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:08 pmIs this the least surprising sacking in football just now?
