Somebody posted that we'd go from 70% possession in most games to 10% but I have to disagree. I think we'd match most Prem sides with the ball, but our defence would struggle.
How do you think we would get on?

About as well as Forest right now
Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
This current team need (at least) a full season of development first. Bellamy even suggested a year 2 promotion could be ‘better’.
We are still very much in the early days of the process but signs do look promising.
We’d also need PL quality additions on top of what we already have in key areas. I’d be excited to see the players VK could attract in the PL.
Impossible to make any judgement right now due to these factors, though I’d imagine we’d still be looking to play football on the deck.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
Based on the quality of the teams that went up and the teams that went down the standard of this seasons Premier League is much higher so I think our current team would struggle and likely get relegated.
I think a full season of this team gelling with 2 or 3 quality additions then I think VK could easily keep us up next season and could see us replicating what Brentford have done

Logic would suggest that unless there was a managerial change it would be up, possibly (but far from certain) down, but if so then definitely back up again. We would be in a much stronger position in 2 years time to bounce back again. So we shouldn’t fear promotion, and do need the money.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
At the moment struggle, but we have another 30+ games to gel, and 2 more windows to strengthen.
If we can strengthen the defence, either by improving the players, or tweaking the system, we'd have a great platform to build on.

Hand on heart we would struggle because it's a young side who are still learning especially how to close games out , but the experience will come the longer they play together .

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
Pretty clearly we would get smashed most weeks. The only way teams like ours stay in the prem is by keeping consistent clean sheets, we struggle to keep clean sheets in the championship.
However, that is based on the current team. If we went up we would almost certainly upgrade in a number of positions so it’s a bit of a pointless question.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
Ok I’m going to be the first… I think we would stay up. 18 months (from now to the end of next season) is an age in a young player’s career.
We would score a fair few more goals than last season… and that might be enough to get the requisite number of wins. Remember 2 teams come up with us… and Ive not seen anyone look better than us now. So there would possibly only be one team that we have to do better than. Looking at the likes of Saints, Foxes, Wolves,Villa there are a bunch of teams which have serious problems.

I support Burnley and its only in your tiny brain that I support Leeds. As for you making constant digs at the team you supposedly support when they are flying high seems a funny way of showing your support.
Maybe you're one of those fair-weather johnny come lately Premier League fans who are fed up with us now we've got relegated

We'd be comfortably relegated from the PL this season.

We’d get absolutely slaughtered . Though give this team a yr to develop , couple of quality prem signings and sign couple of our loans and we’d have more than enough to survive and build on .

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
Bournemouth and Fulham are showing it is possible to go up and compete, now that doesn't mean we'd find it easy, and we would most definitely need to strengthen, but there's 6/7 teams who we could certainly be confident of at least matching if we recruit wisely.
The current team would struggle I feel, but clearly we wouldn't have the current squad, some would move on and some would come in.

With the mistakes we make in our own half we would get savaged. Don't think we would create much either against better quality defenders. Big gulf between leagues.
Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
We'd get panned quite simply. We'd be similar to the Norwich side that came up a few seasons ago. It would be extremely naive to believe anything other than relegation and probably bottom of the league.

Nonsense.
People spouted this crap 50 years ago in our promotion season and we finished around fifth?
We'd be fine. Top half with a modicum of investment. Pope apart, this side beats last year's in every position and there's a bench full of impact subs.
Get on against Delias lot tomorrow...therell be no half arsed, weak-kneed turgid surrender to the canaries this season.
Get a grip ffs. Fannies.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
We’d be relegated.
The quality of the championship this season is poor. It’s significantly lower in quality than our last 2 promotion winning seasons.
At the same time quality of Premier League just seems to go up every year with the vast amount spent on players by even those regarded as smaller clubs.
The main difference would be that we would be heavily punished by the oppositions strikers for our mistakes far more than we are this season.
But we have not built this team for the Premier League. We’ve built it for the championship and doing just fine with it so far.

As footballers I much prefer Beyer and THB to Tarks and Mee.
Barnes was in last years team... If Twine isn't a better player then I'm a banana.
I prefer Tella to Cornet personally.
Taylor can't get the left back gig this year.. We've got a better one now.

Whilst we could definitely cause most teams problems when we attack, we'd score nowhere near as many goals as we're currently getting and defensively we'd get ripped apart, bearing in mind we're struggling to keep clean sheets against average to poor Championship opposition.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
We would go down for sure. But as said it was a 2 year plan.
The difficulty is, with how the relegation battle is shaping up, it’s looking imperative that we go up this season as there’s likely to be at least 1, maybe 2 “big boys” going down as well as Forest who will be strong in the champ.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
I think you underestimate us. I think we would get enough points to avoid relegation in the first season and will build on that in each following season. Of course with promotion comes an inevitable upgrade in playing personnel. Taking the question literally we’ll have to hope we beat Crawley and get a premier league team in the next round. That will at least give us a clue.

If our defence was more organized and aggressive we would be about 14/15th., All our midfield; wingers and strikers are more than capable of finding the net in the EPL.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
we would lose most games and be relegated. the whole set up is brand new basically, so its a credit to the coaching and players that we have excelled this season in the championship. That is a hell of an achievement in itself. Incoming players and manager, and to get it all up and running so quickly is remarkable.
As has been mentioned though, if with more time and experience playing together, and hopefully being able to strengthen when appropriate, it may be possible to go up and stay up without a relegation dog fight.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
We'd get taken apart on the counter, we're nowhere near in terms of defending set pieces and we'd struggle to score goals. Other than that we'd be a pleasure to watch if you like seeing us pass the ball around with no end product.
Despite the weaknesses we could go top again tonight. Just shows the gulf in class between the two divisions. It will be interesting to see how we cope with Norwich and Sheff Utd. Should give us a good indication of where we are. If we're in the top 3 I'd expect us to bring in a striker in January.
If we do go up we'd lose THB, Maatsen and Tella so we'd need to rebuild the defence anyway.
During the rest of the season I'd hope that we'll see the team create more chances per game and improve our organisation at the back. I was surprised at how out of position some of our players were for the first two goals against Sunderland. SD would have been going ape. I know VK likes players to slot in and cover for others but I thought that was midfielders covering for full backs not midfielders covering for centre backs who are covering for full backs.

I think it would be difficult for us in the EPL even assuming we kept the loan players. Certainly defensively and in midfield we would struggle. I hope that we manage to draw a good Premier League team in the cup. That might give us a clue. Oh yes and and mentioned above scoring goals might be an issue!!! We need a striker right now.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
I don't see how we can judge as we haven't seen if this current lot can do better then they are now. I hope they can.
I've seen all the full games on Clarets+ or Sky. We've had an impressive start and caught some teams by surprise. Others seemed to have had the measure of us but still could not win. The only match Burnley have been totally convincing is Swansea. For the Sunderland game I didn't think we were that much better in the second half then we were in the first. We upped the energy and changed things around and scored four but Sunderland could also have got more.
Tonight will be interesting as we face a side that is not far off last year's Premier League side with good quality forwards. I'm not confident!

Not well…
However, I’m confident that Kompany isn’t naive enough to think we could transfer this system seamlessly into the premier league. Some tweaks, and personnel upgrades in key areas would give us a chance.

Norwich seem to a good barometer. Do well in the Championship, struggle in the Prem.dibraidio wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 2:13 pmWe'd get taken apart on the counter, we're nowhere near in terms of defending set pieces and we'd struggle to score goals. Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
I think Norwich is a good comparison.
this squad in the PL would be relegation fodder. We would get a couple of great wins but the players aren't quite up to the PL level (yet). IF we get promoted, I don't see VK changing his style. Either our squad will develop into PL quality players or we will upgrade, which is why we might have leaned toward the loans rather than buying players outright.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
If we played a flat back four and played beyer and thb in the centre I think we would do okay but we would need to spend big on centre midfield as Cork will be nearly retiring and we have all seen that the others can’t hack the prem.
The wingers look decent at this level but think it’s another big step up to the prem.
We would need to keep hold of the loan players and if they continue putting in these good performances I can see them getting snapped up by another higher up team
We are going to have the same problem as forest if they keep it up, hopefully we can negotiate a buy clause if we go up or if is already in the loan deal.
Thb is going to be a big miss at the back as I doubt city Will sell him. If there is any incling they are up for selling we should bite their hands off.

Suspect to even make us competitive, and assuming all the loans stayed, we'd be looking at needing upgrades down the spine of the team. Centre half to partner THB (Beyer might be that, but it's a big step up), central midfielder, centre forward.

Re: How would we fare in the Premier League with this team?
Cork and Jay have shown how much more difficult the Premier League is by being the best players in the league below at 33 years old, and of our loanees I think probably only Maatsen has a serious Premier League career ahead of him. Maybe THB.
Brownhill with a confident championship season behind him and Taylor would be fine, Cullen looks like he understands football and Zaroury is certainly talented enough if he carries on his upward curve, but of Benson, Bastien, Vitinho, Roberts, Muric I have my doubts and we don't even know whether or not the lesser spotted Twine and Churlinov can play at this level yet.
