OKCooclaret wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 3:23 pmI’d like to see out:
Barnes (retire/coach/sell)
Lowton (sell)
Norris (sell)
Brownhill (forced sale)
Peacock Farrell (sell)
Roberts (sell)
Long (new 5 year contract to help him transition into coaching)
I’d like to see in:
Heaton (backup and coaching role)
Central Midfielder (Dan Neil)
Right back
Left back
Number 10
Strikers X 2 Obafemi as one (1)
Well we did buy Wout for 12 million or so in January so I’m pretty sure ALK knows about that window.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 3:35 pmApart from the fact that we've spent tend of millions paying down debt and ALK have shown no previous interest in the January Window before. It's also poor value window hard to buy or sell players etc. but if we are to luxuriate in fantasy then I would go for a back up for Jay Rod...
How many January's are you basing this on?ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 3:35 pmApart from the fact that we've spent tend of millions paying down debt and ALK have shown no previous interest in the January Window before. The problems with these 4 are : who would want them enough to pay their wages, let alone a fee? why would they leave while on what are very likely to be better contracts than they could expect elsewhere.MACCA wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 8:16 pmNo read the whole thread, but I hope it's a case of
Norris
Lowton
Long
Barnes
All out for fees/wages off the books and a commanding and experienced CD and a goal scorering FC brought in. Don't care how but think that's what we need to see us over the line
It's quite obvious the rest are needed in dome shape or form
Loan with us still paying a proportion of the player's wages wouldn't be unusualboatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 4:38 pmThe problems with these 4 are : who would want them enough to pay their wages, let alone a fee? why would they leave while on what are very likely to be better contracts than they could expect elsewhere.
perhaps Lowton could get a deal, though I'm not sure.
No but the player would maintain their earnings whilst getting first team football which could be appealing.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 4:44 pmThe issue still remains, they don't have to go out on loan if they don't want to.
Lower championship or league one I imagine
I'm not saying all four or even any of them will go. You asked why they would go when they have their current wage. So I just explained, in answer to your question, how loan deals can work in such a situation to enable movement. My view is there will be little activity - both incomings and outgoings - in January.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 6:16 pm2 out of the 4 have virtually no football on their CV for 2 years (more in one case), can't see any takers for them.... Conference perhaps.
TBH I can't see much happening at all. We are stuck with the non-players until their contracts run down, I think, which would be a pity all round.taio wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 6:23 pmI'm not saying all four or even any of them will go. I don’t care how tall or small he is: Coventry have taken 10 points from 5 games since O’Hare’s return. He’s a fabulous player and Coventry need the money.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 6:10 pmO'Hare is another midget.......we need some meat in the side.
Wasn’t bothered in the summer, but have watched him now and he does look a very good player. Can only assume we’d need to drop Browny to play him though?
According to their fans, they want 20m for Gyokeres, so you can forget that one!
They are a confident bunch I’ll give them thatboatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 8:10 pmAccording to the one Cov fan I know they are headed to the EPL and won't be selling anyone.
Yes, Chris Wood invoked a clause in his contract and we sold him for £25 million at a time where we didn't have two strikers at the club who looked like scoring.
This is the problem with transfer windows. If there was no "window" in January we'd be pretty happy with the squad and the cover that we have and people wouldn't be making up lists demanding x, y and z. I really wish they would scrap it. But the paymasters love the drama of the window so it's here to stay. Personally I don't think we "need" anyone in January. Ok, there are always areas you'd like to strengthen but we've got a very good squad for this level.
Who, Wout? He's out on loan, he wouldn't be back on a free. Would love to see him in this side.ClaretFelix wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 12:13 pmI reckon a certain blonde haired striker will return on a free now he's seen the change in approach and style of play Kompany has implemented
Barnes: having made a good living in the game, and obviously being a wise head with the money he’s made might want to transition on his own terms. If not, a host of clubs would pay say 100k-500k for him.roperclaret wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:37 pmOK
Why would Barnes retire? And who would buy him for money?
Again who would pay money for Lowton (even though I still think he is the best Right back at the club)
Again nobody would pay anything for Norris
Why do you want Brownhill to leave? He’s great at this level
BPF - ok which leaves Franchi as number 2?
Roberts - is this you saying we need to sell to raise more money?
Long - I’m assuming this is tongue in cheek
Heaton - not a chance
RB - Ok understandable since you’ve sold 2 right backs but please suggest somebody better
LB - better than Maatsan and Charlie??
No. 10. Doesn’t fit our system - and we have Twine if needed
Yes we maybe need 1 forward
I think, and I hope Mr. Pace is already chatting with the clubs that we have players on loan with to start the agreements to sign them permanently (if/when promoted). If they don’t want to come, are overpriced, or aren’t available then we need to know now.welsbyswife wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 12:00 pmThis is the problem with transfer windows. Of course.
Absolutely agree with this. All our players will be vital to us over the course of the season. I wouldn’t let anyone go personally. I think the fact we’ve got the likes of Lowts and Long to come in if there’s any serious injuries to our back line is amazing strength in depth and may well prove pivotal as we enter the business end of the season when injuries kick in.
Or, we embed new players into the system and team now and move out the deadwood now to allow VK and his team time to work with those who will make up the bulk of the squad next year.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 2:40 pmAbsolutely agree with this.
